Yeah - you don't want to be drunk on your wedding night. That's never a good look.

Your first two sentences contradict each other, but whatever.

You want something hard-to-get in Oklahoma? I bet you can try trading some Prairie Ales for Pliny the Elder from a Bay Area trader. I still can't get over the fact that you're making this so difficult when you have quite a few options to chose from already available to you in your market. Whatever beer you open is going to be special, memorable and exciting because you drank it together on your wedding night after spending a great time with all your friends and family celebrating love. You could drink Hi Life and it would be the best beer you've ever left half-finished on your nightstand, man.

Why don't you just suggest M and Dave while you are at it?

Agreed, just like going out to eat and she asks where you would like to go....oh my....a long and arduous conversation that has probably ended marriages. I would suggest asking "Honey, what beer don't you like"....the answers will be more than forth coming. Same goes for the restaurant....."where don't you want to go tonight?". Works every time.

The Better Half from Founders is excellent by the way, and probably storable for a number of years of years.

    Congrats.

I would have suggested La Petite Mort, but it probably isn't hoppy enough.

Weddings are to be celebrated and not the time to cheap out IMHO

    Realistic trade options:

You're not far from some really great Midwestern beers. Toppling Goliath has been distributing a ton of pseudoSue and Golden Nugget bottles around Iowa and Wisconsin, and New Glarus Scream (batch 2334) is still drinking very fresh. Black Husky Pale Ale (or Sproose IIPA) are easy add-ons for someone in Milwaukee or Madison.

We went with a BA Stout for our wedding, ended up drinking the Assassin we lucked out on getting. Black Husky Pale bottles along with Spotted Cow and Central Waters Mudpuppy Porter on tap.

Which reminds me- you could also try to trade for CW Bourbon Barrel Stout, Barleywine, Scotch Ale, or Cherry Stout, if any of those are your jam.

Find a bottle of your wife's favorite beer to give her after the ceremony. Then leave it sealed until at least the next day. Depending on your wife to be you do not want to start on thin ice.

I think his point was that based on the OP's original / follow-up posts, trading for those beers could be a bit of a stretch (though I guess he did say he'd traded for Huna, so perhaps not that much of one).
