Just having one of these now. Completely reminds of the founders dirty bastard in all aspects. Much more similar to a scotch ale than an amber/red ale in my opinion. Its not bad, just not what i was expecting out of an amber ale. The bottle does say it is a scotch ale, but i checked ba and didnt read the bottle. Anyone had this beer before?

I like it. But I don't have much experience with red/ambers.

Brewery web site says it is an Amber Ale. I think I'll take their word for it. They do say it is a "bastardized" Scotish Ale, whatever that means...

Scottish-style Red Ale w/ Northwest hopping.. so it's a American Red Ale by default.

    Makes sense.

Basically that means its about as Scottish as Haggis is North Korean.

Not every beer completely fits the style its categorized in on this site. Hitachino Red Rice Ale is labeled a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, but nothing about that beer would make me think its one.

It doesn't matter to me. I enjoy drinking it (and the name makes me chuckle), though.

I agree with you. It definitely reminds me of a scotch ale more than an amber.

The only Scottish beer it reminds me of is BrewDog's 5am Saint which is pretty atypical of traditionally brewed beer here. Regardless, both are still pretty good.

I'm surprised, I find it nothing like a Scotch Ale. Tastes like a classic hoppy amber to me.
