Sounds like you've got it made! I reckon a typical pint in York is £3 or more (and can be a lot more for US craft or other unusual offerings). Although I'm excluding Sammie Smith's, who still do a very cheap pint.....

Nice one. There. It's opened and poured.
Wildcat is a good example of a Scottish bitter and on cask can be outstanding.

Funnily enough I bought Birds & Bees earlier. Never heard of Wildcat before. Let us know how it is!

Its really nice. Big snow white head, light clear yellow with fairly fierce beading, a complex nose of some honey, pink grapefruit and ginger and a reasonably long waxy texture on the tongue. A steal at £1.39 from Aldi.

Onwards and upwards! Just cracked Struise Motuecha, which I bought back from Belgium (the Struise shop in Bruges is well worth a look by the way).

Most of their regular line-up is available; I didn't really notice anything missing. Obviously the experiments and one-offs won't be there. No Earthmonk, but I think they only release that occasionally? So perhaps 15-20 different beers?

Probably the pick of the bunch would be Kabert, which they had when I was there (haven't tried it yet).

It's also a tasting room - they had 3 'taps' available to try (these were actually plastic balloons in a fridge near the door, and who knows what they might have on when you're there).

Also, seek out de Bierboom - an interesting range of goodies on sale at decent prices....

    Cheers

Yes - was aware they had some taps on

May check out Bierdoom then also

I used to hit Bruges with the lads every year circa 99-06 for a 2 or 3 night beer up with day trips elsewhere in Belgium

Only been twice since '06 so looking forward to this one ... well in the sense of taking beers home as this is our Xmas present from us to both of our sets of parents and I'm the only one in 6 who cares for beer so thinking I'll not get much in the way of drinking in our 2 days there !!!

In fact not been to Belgium since Nov '10 when we hit Ghent and Turnhout (with the Westmalle tap taken on in between)

Try and persuade your companions to visit 't Brugs Beertje - just tell them it's one of the must-see tourist highlights (which it is!). Daisy's bartending should accomodate every taste....

Bierdoom - if I ever brew an RIS I'm calling it that
