That's correct, Pipeworks & Westbrook showing how it's done. CCB & Sun King don't seem to have a grasp what market they're putting their beers in.

I'll never quite get the idea of doing a limited release of random flagship beers in our market. Maybe the distributor is forcing their hand, but it seems like an odd choice, and it's why most of those beer languish on the shelf.
Denver is a "try it once and move along...unless it's Godlike" market. Unless you approach it that way, you're just spinning your wheels.

Well not only that, but we are blessed with incredible distribution now more than ever. We get a lot of great beer that you can go out and buy year-round, so if you bring something (while it's a very nice gesture) it better come to impress. I'd compare it to your first interview... you'd want to put your best foot forward.

Then again I'm posting in a beer forum... and just like NBB might think Fat Tire is their best beer because it's 50% of their sales.... well I can see the general public buying into these 'flagship' beers, but what it comes down to is the general public aren't familiar with these out-of-staters that come in once a year so they sit on shelves.

Is Pipeworks everywhere or just at Mr. B's?

Agreed can't wait to crack open my Ninja Vs Unicorn. Although CCB can ship us all the Jai Alai they want as far as I'm concerned.

Haven't seen it yet... and while it's a good beer, I'd much rather have the White Oak Jai Alai. If they don't bring Jai Alai I'd be surprised though, I think that's their #1 seller.

That White Oak....my wife and I went on beach vacation in Florida a few years ago and flew into Tampa Bay. First stop on the way to the beach: CCB. Picked up like 6 6-packs of the White Oak and just drank that all day on the beach...man do I miss that beer.

IMO, with the popularity of IPA's a beer like Jai Alai is still a good choice. It might not generate the same buzz as something like Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (Is that still cool? I'm too old to care) but it'll probably move. Especially one that has a good reputation.
Plus, it follows the general rule of hype and ABV, too.
These beers aren't really for the general public. Hell, if they are you're probably going to irritate them when they can't buy 'em in a few months. If you're going to send beers for the geeks, they should be geeky beers.

Just picked up pipeworks at apple jacks. Apparently they got biggest allocation in Denver area. All 3 still avail plus some of other special releases from this wk.

Thanks, just picked up a couple Citra Ninjas. $13.99/bomber but from what I remember that's only a couple dollars more than it is in Chicago.

Anyone know what Prairie beers may be making their way into Denver (specifically Pirate Noir and Fred's Blend....Fred's is OK only, from what I understand?). I know this isn't necessarily a GABF special but I didn't want to start a new thread just for this.

Personally thought it was a great citra forward DIPA, gotta let it warm up quite a bit for the flavors to pop.

I would guess we'll see Pirate Bomb (soon hopefully) as it's being distributed by Shelton brothers ( I"m assuming you meant Pirate Bomb and not Noir) Fred's is OK only and the Whiskey BA Bomb should be coming out in the next couple months, but from what I've heard that will be Texas only, which is odd considering Prairie is in OK....
