Craft beer and mountain bikers go well together too. We aren't all road bike snobs! :grinning: (if I ever move back to Arizona, I am going to start carrying a box of thumbtacks in my car for those pricks) Biking as a hobby in general shows you do have some disposable income and that alone would make it a a profitable market. And nothing is better after a long cross country ride or boming down your local downhill leg of singletrack than an cold delicious craft IPA. Sounds like a great marketing strategy!

Funny, these days it seems the MTBers are snobbier than the roadies. If you don't massive travel, they won't even talk to you. Most cyclists are friendly enough, and end enjoy talking about bikes and rides, no matter the style. Oh well, time to go string some piano wire across some trails.

Maybe it's not that the roadies are snobby ... maybe it's that they don't like you because you threaten them with violence / vandalism?

I bet EPO improves your beer drinking performance too; more blood volume should mean higher tolerance, right? Maybe there's a new market for doping products in craft beer.

I think it boils down to the individual. I am also an avid cyclist and a craft beer drinker. There are plenty of breweries that have cycling specific named beers, Fat Tire Ale is the first one to comes to mind. Also a lot of breweries sponsor rides. In addition there are tour groups that are having week long bike trips to breweries in different parts of the country.

I think what needs to be done, has to come the prospective of a cyclist. There are a number of web sites available to cyclist's that give them a route in a particular area that you are in or visiting, Ride with GPS is one of those sites, also Strava, Garmin and Map My Ride are some others.

It is up to the individual to choose. Use Beer Advocate to check out if their is a brewery nearby in a particular area, go to Ride with GPS, look up the city you are in, choose a distance you want to ride and go. When your done go enjoy the local craft brew scene, and if your lucky they may be a brew pub and you get some excellent grub with your beverage of choice.

I am hoping to create a regional (New England) data base for rides and the breweries near buy to visit. Look for more info here in the next year.

Love the idea of a bunch of "brewery ride" routes. I know there are winery bike tours in both CA and France.

It might just be an Arizona thing. The road cyclists were complete douche' nozzles there, especially coming down out of the mountains. I honesty don't care how fast they think they are on the downhill, my truck is faster, heavier, and it will kill them, yet they ride in the middle of the road. How would you expect me to react? They know I won't hit them, but I can certainly pay them back.

I have actually ran into some wire I'm assuming some kids put up for a laugh. Joke was on them though. It didn't work very well.

Yea, they especially don't like it when they are riding in the middle of the road, and I get about an inch away from them with my truck and lay on the extremely loud double pneumatic horn. Once nice thing about about a pneumatic horn is, you never expect it! Treat motorists like crap, expect something warm and brown in return.

I hate my family and beer seems to help me cope with that.

And bikes help spend as much time as possible away from them.

    Bike + beer = happiness.

It's called safety! If I'm descending a mounting at 55-60 mph and I'm taking over the lane, that's because the shoulder is in rough shape and if I go down, I'm dead. And if I'm going that speed, you can hold your fucking horses. It's not exactly slow.

EDIT: Could could seriously kill someone. It's not fucking funny.

Such language. This is a public forum you know. Perhaps you should have a beer and cool off.

Safety would be moving out of the way of a giant truck. If you chose to attempt to do the speed limit on a bicycle, that is your own stupidity. Simply move on the side of the road where you are supposed to be, and squeeze those thousand dollar brakes. Man I can't wait to go for a cruise in the mountains. I will be thinking about you. :sunglasses:

I used to love to head out on my bike through the forest on the logging trails around Bamberg, Germany. I worked out a number of loops that would take me through 4-5 villages, each with its own brewery/Biergarten. Below are some pics from one of my favorite loops (note: not my pics):
