I figured as much, my plan was to use a big box, lots of peanuts, trash bag the growler after wrapping it in a ton of bubble wrap.

I've gotten two growlers shipped to me -- one was a 1 gallon that was basically bubblewrapped to death. The other was a 32 oz (I think -- see my picture above) that was stuck in one of the compartments of a styrofoam 4-wine-bottle holder. The thing that always concerns me is that I figure at some point the box will be on its side. The only growlers I shipped were 32 oz'ers in tall skinny swing-top bottles (@kgncfl posted it a page or two back); I bubblewrapped them and put them in a box at an angle (the only way they fit) then stuck other heavily wrapped beers between, below, and above them in a padded box. I have HEARD swingtops last better, but the two screw tops I got were fine. I think the important thing is wrapping/padding so that if they DO leak they don't ruin the rest of the box contents.

Well, I am somewhat confident with my shipping abilities, I might get a couple growlers fills to go in my bif box, would open a shitstorm of possibilities with georgia beer too. Orpheus, cherry street, red hare, creature comforts...Orpheus brews I believe are some of the best in georgia, and can match up with the best in the states.

Speaking of shipping abilities, that's the only thing I'm worried about with this. Sent an ~18 bottle box to someone as my first beer trade (done on another side since I hadn't even registered here at that point in time) and apparently 2 of the bottles broke in transit, and I had thought I had it packed up pretty tight. Gonna re-use a bunch of materials + the box a buddy of mine in the SWTFYW thread used to send me a box so hopefully this second time goes a lot better (luckily the box I sent before was just a few 4/6 packs and a bomber, and the two that broke were things there were multiples of, but still felt like a jerk who doesn't know how to pack boxes)

Things break, thats the risk of sending bottles of glass with beer, things will just break, plus the way its handled by fedex and UPS doesn't help.

It's Ryan at DFH brewpub @RyanSchwam a great BA and all around good guy. We miss him im FL but how do you pass up a job running the DFH brewpub? Just tell him Steve from FL says hey.
It is pronounced Val ar ex man. It's a very important name from colonial times. It means man who dispenses valuable insight and delicious beverage who happens to dispense drugs too (RX).

When in doubt wrap it one more time and thrown in another bag of peanuts!

KNOCK ON WOOD, I have yet to have anything break that I have sent, but Ive had at last 5 packages with broken bottles sent to me. That wet cardboard sagging feeling and smell of sour soy sauce is always heartbreaking.

Where at in IL are you located? All those guys on the east coast talk about meet ups and bottle shares so I think we need a Midwest chapter in this BIF group to share some bottles.

Well, gentlemen, the Bears game sucked ass! But I've decided in order to make myself feel better, I'll still send an awesome Sixterhood box and bask in your joy.

Hint #3 you have more wants than me. And I'm planning on ticking a few, but some of your hads overlap so I'm not 100% on what to send...

You let me know when and I'll be there. I can do on my back porch if you come while it is warm enough.

    Seriously?

"Yeah, that is a beer in my hand and I'm drinking 8 more too, why don't you just focus on making dinner? Oh and these feet aren't going to rub themselves, and would it kill you to get me the beer opener?"

That's how we drink beer in Casa De KGNCFL.

(don't tell my wife I said this)

Talking of meet ups and bottle shares, I will be in Chicago the weekend of the marathon (October 11-12). Anybody from the Chicagoland area (or any other crazy runner) wants to meet up to grab a brew?

Are you running in the marathon or going to support someone? I'm going to be down in the city that weekend attending the Beer Hoptacular. It's a pretty cool beer fest and I think there are still tickets available. Not sure if you can fit that in your plans but worth a consideration :stuck_out_tongue:

I will be running it. Ideally, I would like to meet up after the race on Sunday. So, if the festival is happening Sunday in the afternoon, I would be game.
