I have had this beer twice. The first time was within a couple weeks of release which tasted the way I believe was intended like in the description. I had a second one tonight which had a strong sour taste that was strong enough to hide most of the flavor that I remembered. Has anyone else had the Three Floyd's version recently and had te same result? I have stored this beer like all my others in the basement. I have one more left and I afraid it is going south fast.

I've had it about two months ago and something was definitely wrong. Sour ginger bread beer:confused:

I thought it was just shit, this would be a better excuse because some of the reviews of it were MUCH different than my experience.

I tried a bottle that was definitely infected, the beer sucked. I just have to shake my head when I see the people who bought this for 40+$. Moronic purchase.

What I get out of this comment is that someone purchased a $40 bottle of beer (which is very expensive) and then shared that very expensive bottle beer with you. You then called that person a moron and shook you're head in haughty disgust. Is that right?

I was under the impression that only the Bruery's stock of these was infected due to issues with their barrels, and not any brewed/bottled at 3 Floyds. Which is yours? Also, I paid $25 for a Rue D'Floyd, which is a totally reasonable price for a 750 ml bottle of any imperial beer.

There were 4 different bottles, 2 from each brewery.

    Rue D'Floyd
The Bruery: had an infection issue, therefore they charged less money for the bottle... I want to say $17.
Three Floyd's: had no coffee in it and had no infection. $25, sold out immediately, and was outstanding.

    Floyd D'Rue (Rum Barrel Aged)
The Bruery: had no infections that anyone has mentioned
Three Floyd's: had no infections reported ... until this thread.

Drink it, you bought it. Don't try to pawn it off on a sour fan because you don't like it.

That is not a reasonable price. And the beer that this thread is named after was on the shelves for 49.99 at some places.

Yeah I had the FFF release of Floyd D'Rue a couple months back and it was definitely funky and infected... But so are my man parts and theres nothin wrong with that! Uhh...

The bruery said that Lacto was detected in both. Also, Bruery versions were $20, less a 15% discount for RS, plus sales tax.

Otherwise, that was a fairly accurate description, considering these are by far the most confused beers in history.

Floyd d'Rue (Bruery version) was terrible, infected or not. It was an interesting concept, but tasted mostly like Captain Morgan.

Rue d'Floyd (again, Bruery version) was supposedly infected but tasted phenomenal. I drank two of my three bottles within the first three months with no hint of infection. Saving the third for some time down the road.

I thought I saw somewhere that the two breweries used the exact same recipe, so although the FFF's version didnt mention coffee on the label, it was still used in the brewing process. Could be wrong.

Yeah I'd like to know where you saw a brewery only release on the shelves, by the very small chance that you did then they were reselling it after purchasing it at the brewery themselves.

As far as i know it was not supposed to hit distro. Sounds to me like some shop owners went to three floyds to buy the beer to resell in their shops. Which is quite illegal.

Might be. Regardless 30$ is still a flying rip off.

I had my first bottle(3F-FDR) that I bought at the brewery and remained refrigerated since I bought it. I had it over a month ago and it was definitely sour. It was drinkable but something was wrong. And for the $30 price tag, it was a all around bad experience. Glad I'm not the only one who tasted exactly what I did.

The 3F versions were not infected. That "something wrong" was just the recipe. FdR was just not good.
