Has Green Flash Soul IPA in a bottle been released yet?

I got two from a friend that were marked "do not photograph". But I don't think it has been released to the public.

Ha. Since when are breweries against pre-release promotion of new beers?

Label must not have been approved at the time your bottles were put out. Either Green Flash was super eager to get this beer out there (maybe it's a GABF entry?) or they just felt like having a little fun.

I wonder, at 6.8%, is Soul IPA a substitute for WCIPA which was 7% and is now 8.1% ?

It's called Soul Style IPA. It is draft only for now. The bottles were sent out as samples and clearly states on the bottle sample only.

Sample bottles all the way to MA? Kind of strange- why not just send out 32oz growlers w/o a label? That way you don't have to worry about the whole "do not photograph" label. Is there an underground world of sample beer trading that I've never heard of before?

I was under the impression that this beer is going to be draught only.

Yeah, I've seen keg labels only at this point. I guess that's why you'd send out samples, to see if distributors/bar owners across the country are interested in buying a few kegs.

I've got another one called "Jibe" Session IPA. Haven't tried it yet. These were a gift from a friend who is also a proprietor of one of the Craft Beer Cellars. Not a trade in the usual sense.

Cool to have them. Do they have normal Greenflash type labels with the added "do not photograph" Or are they just plain generic labels?

Green Flash labels, with a large "SAMPLE" with Do not photograph included around it.

Eh, I was hoping it would be disguised. Like the when car manufacturers take out their prototypes out for testing.

I don't think they intended it to be a "substitute" for anything. I think they just wanted at least one IPA that isn't a double (or a session).

Precisely. This isn't a replacement, it's a line extension. It makes sense now that pretty much everything else in their line up is 8% or higher. I haven't heard anything about bottle availability, but draft should be hitting the market in the next month or so.

I hope this beers marks the return of the six pack for Green Flash.

My guess is that the "do not photograph" part may be a joke as well, playing on the old superstition that photographs steal your soul. I feel like they are smart enough to know the easiest way to get someone to do something is to tell them not to do it.

Let's just hope they don't put the "best by" date 6 months out on this too.

Exactly what Green Flash and craft beer needs, another IPA
