I recently had a delivered package of beer stolen off of my front porch. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I'd never ask for a replacement box in this case, but I'm curious about what others have done.

This happened to me a few years ago when I started trading. I explained it to the BA I was trading with who sent me another box despite my objections of him doing so. I sent him a thank you box for doing that. I guess it depends on the person you're shipping with and the bottle(s) involved.

are you sure it was swiped? maybe it was mis delivered. Believe me, it has happened many of times. Put a tracer on it with the service that made the delivery.

Yes. My wife was home when it was left on the porch, but had a baby in her arms, and couldn't bring it inside at the time.

It was a bunch of Freetail wild ales, including a few bottles of the recent Ananke. I appreciate the gesture, but it's really not necessary.

if i had any of that stuff, i'd pay forward some beer karma (especially since you personally have been very generous to me recently), but i don't ._. my heroic moment must wait for another day.

Sender may be able to get a refund, if you're both willing to go through the headache (he deals with shipping company, you'll get phone calls).

The thought counts. The package you sent was extremely generous as well. That said, I've got a few beers put aside for you next time we do a trade.

So your wife, with baby in arms, saw the package delivered and it was stolen before she could put said child down and bring the box inside the house? Sounds like it's time to move out of ridiculous package-stealing ninja territory.

HOLY MOLY. i had the IDENTICAL thing happen to me. my wife even saw the guy put the box in his trunk and drive away...to which i was baffled that she didn't get a plate number or ANYTHING, but i guess things happen fast and when a baby is in your hands that is your top priority. i was lucky in that the box was glassware from bell's and when i reached out to them, they immediately sent another box (made a thread about it).

the real interesting part of the story was that the UPS guy was alerted and we spoke with him about it and he said he put it on top of another box. we weren't expecting another box and called around to all shippers to ensure that nothing else was delivered to us that day. still don't know about that other box that was supposedly stolen as well.

moving forward, i now require indirect signature on everything.

yeah, had the exact thing not happened to me i would've said the same thing. it appeared that the guy who stole the box was minutes behind the UPS truck. interestingly enough, 4 other boxes were delivered that day on my block and none were stolen...most were left on the porch. it has to have something to do with that other box that was supposedly on my porch, but at this point i think i'll never know, but i still don't chance it since a trader is only responsible for the box until it gets delivered...if it gets stolen, sucks for you.

I had a box stolen last year that included some not easily replaceable bottles from a regular trading partner. He filed a claim and was able to get $100 back from Fedex and it seemed that it wasn't a very difficult or arduous process. He then sent another box of great stuff a couple months later to make up for it even though I told him it was fine and that these things happen.

Justice was also served as the two guys who stole the box lost their job and were evicted from their house based on this incident being "the last straw" with their employer/landlord. Best of luck getting this worked out.

I always have boxes shipped to my parents' place in the burbs. Yesterday had a huge box of Kuhnhenn meads and eisbocks as well as a box with a Port barrel DL amongst other things delivered. My sister was home, but upstairs with a broken leg and unable to grab the boxes. I showed up today and nobody saw any boxes. Gone. Called FedEx today, but I feel like I'm fairly boned.

I realize this doesn't help anyone and this is a dead thread, but I just needed to complain.
