Trying to track down Bill. Loved him and his beers. Does anybody know how I can reach him or his wife Carol? Thanks!
He was co-founder, chairman of the board, and brewmaster at Granity City but retired several years ago. Most of the beers they brew still use his recipes. http://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...urdick-Retires-Granite-City-Food#.VCt-PVfe7Po
I miss both Bill and his beers. There are very few things that I would drive to Minnetonka for (from St. Paul), but Sherlock's was one of them. A pint of Bishops Bitter and some vinegar chips. I can almost smell the East Kent Goldings just thinking about it. Ironically, I've never cared for Granite City's brews. Bill was responsible for bringing brewers Bob McKenzie (is he at Third Street now?) and Damian McConn (Summit) to Minnesota. One of them might know where he is now. Good luck.
The last I knew he was still at Third Street. I enjoyed most of his beers during his short stint at Rock Bottom. The cask beers were a real treat and I was a bit bummed when he left.
Bob is still at Third Street, my wife and I said hello to him at ABR where he was one of the guys playing bagpipes.
I think that's true in later years, but Bill was the original/only brewer at Sherlock's for the first five years. He didn't bring Bob in until 1994.
