Damn, I'd say to definitely tick a few if you can, but that'd be crazy to do all 16. I'd try to blend a nice mix of wants and locals.

 

Lawl! Seems like a lot of porches might be screwed in the next month or so. I am already at 9 bottles, and the count just keeps going up!

 

I updated SOME wants (and got rid of a few things I've gotten since I originally made my wants list). Added a few beers from a little over half of the states, I have no clue how available/obtainable any of them are (knowing my luck my sender is from one of those I didn't hit yet, updating wants when you have no clue what to look for from various states is pretty hard I have no clue how you guys do it without spending hours upon hours doing so haha) but it should give an idea of style wants although I already specified that haha

I don't spend hours and hours doing it, But I do spend quite a bit of time going through beer styles top 500 and finding beers I want to try/Breweries I want to try. I have narrowed my list down to 15-16 possible senders, and I tried last night after getting it that low to add beer available in that state. Seekabrew+2 laptops really speeds up process.

 

Hmm I never thought of sorting top 500 by style, and I just remembered that you can do seekabrew by state -_-

brb gonna update with a few more wants here shortly I think (though not a ton most likely, I should definitely hit each state I have as a possibility now though)

Well, I'm pretty buzzed from this Pirate Bomb, so here's another hint:

Hint #something: My target's state borders 5 different states.

 

Was in Boston a couple weeks ago for a wedding and picked up a couple bottles of their Lineage Wheat and Lineage Red. So good! Congress St was on tap as well so got to try a bit of that as well.

 

If they're easy for you to get locally, and outside your target's distribution, go for it! Although last time you sent me a mix of my wants and stuff you just liked, and the stuff you chose by yourself was just as good...

 

@heystevec sent me a bottle if Fort Point Ale a little while back and I have been hooked ever since. So good!

 

I've had Trillium on occasion, and was there last month and met the owner -- really nice guy. They do a lot of saisons, which aren't typically my favorite, but Fort Point is incredible, and pretty much everything is good.

 

To my target -- if you have any interest in and like pumpkin beers, like this and I'll include some (you'll definitely get at least one either way).

 

I still found it hard to do wants just because the top in styles were from so many different breweries and I'm way too impatient to constantly cross check the brewery with my potential shippers' locations and whatnot @_@

I feel like I'm bad at this, but fortunately I'm just thankful for anything and if there's something that doesn't seem like it might be up my alley I'll just take it to a small bottle share or something (I still haven't been to a "proper" share, which I need to change, but occasionally I'll go to a friends place and we'll split like 3 bombers between 2-3 of us)

If you go to the "beers" tab and then click on "top 250", over on the right hand side you can see most popular beers by region -- that's a good starting point. Or you can go to seekabrew, compare a prospective target state to yours, and see what they have that you don't. I have done that in the past, then looked at the brewery's beer list and sorted by ranking and/or number of reviews. The categories BA gives you include

• Midwest

• Mountain

• New England

• Northwest

• Pacific

• South

• South-Atlantic

• Southwest

You're trying too hard. Your wants don't have to be "what's relevant to this BIF" ... just "shit I wanna try at some point". When you go through and see a handful of breweries you're interested in, in the top 50 of that style, Want that beer. It's that simple.
