So nobody went to yesterday's event? Are pumpkin beers that of Fight Club? Where everyone is doing it, but nobody is aloud to talk about it?

i went! was a good event, didn't park so can't speak to that.

i thought yuck yuck gueuze, T.R.E.A.T., and pumpkin b-bomb were excellent. no-li made an excellent pumpkin beer as well. they had a couple "special" release beers, a 2011 kick, avery's rumpkin, and allagash ghoulship, to name a few. they are released throughout the night in the back corner in the brewery, and i never could really figure out the schedule of what was getting released and when.

I've gone Fridays the past four years and got there plenty early. Had good stuff, had a great time with short lines, etc. Since Elysian decided to move it to Seattle Center and expand the size, I've decided I'll probably no longer go. I'm not one for beer fests to begin with due to long lines, mass drunkenness, etc., but the Friday pumpkin fests seemed to lack in the negative side of beer fests. C'est la vie.

It's still at the brewery. They had too many obstacles to do it at Seattle Center.

So, does the Russian River pumpkin sour still suck?

First time I haven't attended in five years. Feels kinda weird, man.

I went on Friday. Standouts: pumpkin bbomb, yuck yuck gueze, almanac heirloom.

I have to say that's what I get for writing them off so soon. Once I heard it was going to be at Seattle Center, I didn't pay any more attention.

Regardless, I can't go on Friday afternoons/early evenings now anyway. My kid plays high school football at O'Dea and I'm all about Friday Night Lights.

    Cheers.

I've always went on Saturday. This year I waited too long to decide on going or not and it sold out before I made my decision. It's a fun event, but not one of my favorite beer fests. After awhile most the beers start tasting the same. The secrecy of the special releases always irritated me also. Just announce the time and place where they will be poured beforehand.

Yes, that was quite annoying. I'm an early in/early out guy, so missed all the specials. That Pumpkin BBomb, though.

Did Fremont have their barrel-aged pumpkin barleywine this year? They brought it last year, and I thought it was actually better than Pumpkin Bbomb.

The previous 2 years I got the last pour of the Pumpkin BBomb. I remember saying last year...how can that happen 2 years in a row. crazy! :grinning:

That was good. I always thought PBBomb tasted pretty much like BBomb.

That's because pumpkin adds no flavor to beer, despite popular belief (and mind tricks). Raw pumpkin is virtually flavorless. And when canned pumpkin is added, it contributes toward the mouhthfeel/body but adds no discernible flavor.

When people think of the flavor of pumpkin beers, they're thinking of the pumpkin pie spices that are invariably added.

That's what I hear. I have yet to try eating raw pumpkin.

You've never just tried a piece while carving your pumpkins, or had it shoved in your face by an older brother? Did you grow up in the city or something?

Carved many pumpkins, but never ate any of it or had it shoved in my face. Always thought the inside of a pumpkin was gross....so no thanks!
