This was my favorite of the bunch at last year's F&S fest. Will be there in two weeks, will be pretty happy if this lasts.

I love these week of release press releases! I won't make it this se It keeps the JK an enjoyable play to hang out, prevents the massive initial rush (2/3 that are miles), and allows the most people to try the beers. I think this is great for out of towners as well as it ensures there's almost always something special on hand.

Understandable, it just makes it harder for some of us not in Austin to get enough to hold us over without sacrificing other plans plus the traveling.

LOL @ "enough to hold us over." I'm sure I speak for some of us who are also from out of town and are usually not lucky enough to even get one of these bottles. This policy works well for those of us who only get to make the trip once or twice a year.

Wait, JK doesn't exist to satisfy the hoarding wants of 50 dorks who don't have a life outside of craft beer releases?

No one likes 1 bottle limits, even if they live in Austin. I know I don't. I would love to go buy 3-4 of these beers at a time instead of muling my wife out there several times a weekend. But I understand why they do it so I never say anything or complain about it as you will almost always come off as an entitled beer brat.

I guarantee that if the limits were higher, there would still be complaining about how fast bottles sell out and how out of towners can never make it here in time before it sells out. Or how they wish it would go back to limit 1 or 2.

I almost wish Atrial and Nocturn were limit 1 too...then maybe they'd still be around too.

    >JK implements one bottle limits
BA: OMG one bottle limits! This sucks, now I gotta make more than one trip.

    >JK implements 1+ bottle limits
BA: Great, he beer will run out before I can make it out! JK only caters to Austin locals and doesn't care for out of towners.

No matter what they do, people will still bitch. No way to make every single one of you happy.

Actually, this would be great for everyone but JK.

Instead of me calling on 5-6 family and friends to make the 9 hour round trip once a month, and spend hundreds on samples, merch, pizza and bottles - I could go once every three months, because the 6000+ bottle releases would overlap (like the current 2800 bottle release is)

We could each pick up 1-per, of mutlple sours in a single day! But JK would have to store them all, and lose out on all of the trips I would make otherwise. I wish I lived in Austin(or actually, south of Austin) and I would be there every two weeks regardless. Love it every time.

I am very excited for this one seeing that it is the only JK fruited sour that I have not had the privilege of trying. I think JK is doing a great job with their releases. They seem to be able to strike that balance with the limits where they do not have to keep a lot of inventory on hand that takes up valuable space while keeping most releases around for at least 2-3 weekends so more people can try them. I live in South Austin so I do not mind heading to JK for quick hits on the weekend to pick up a bottle or two; I can spend time with my wife and dog while enjoying great beer and a great environment. Obviously not as convenient for out of towners but even they can score multiple bottles with a small amount of ingenuity/capitalistic fervor. (friends, family members, pestering random patrons to buy extra bottles :astonished:).

I will say that the glaring exception was the Fen Tao release. Not sure what happened there. I don't know if it was just the ZOMG PEACH SOUR! factor that brought the hordes out to Fitzhugh or what (which, IMO is not nearly as delicious as Aurelian). However, I am impressed that JK is receptive to new ideas and tried some changes for the Aurelian release. I think their combo of announcing the release the week of and having a separate merch/cash line is the new way forward.

Either way, having moved to Austin in January from the East Coast, I am very grateful to have such great beer locally available.

Bottle limits are controlled by jester king, rate at which they sell out are controlled by the consumer. 1 or 2 or 3 bottle limits have the same likelihood to sell out in a weekend no matter what release it is. Without employing mules and hobos I'd much rather go to jester King in 1 trip versus 2 or 3, but then again I'm crazy and have driven from Houston to austin and back 3 days in a row before.

    The math doesnt add up.

If there were 10 bottle limits, it would be gone in a day.

If there were 3 bottle limits, I would say 50% of the people (I am pulling a number out of my ass, but I will state it as a fact) would get the limit, and it would still sell out faster than just 1 bottle.

If you think AL would still be around if it was a 3 bottle limit? I highly doubt it. It requires people who want to get more to hoard/trade to do some leg work and talk other people into joining them. Most people don't have the time or energy to do that. And, I do not frequent Home Depot enough to have day laborers on speed dial.

Very glad for the 1 bottle release. It gives more people a chance to try this great beer and discourages hoarding.

1 bottle limit does make it hard for someone like me (who will make the 3 1/2 hour drive like many others for certain releases), but for each release I will drink as much as I can on draft and then buy 1 bottle for trading purposes to spread the JK love
