Russian River Brewpub Expectations

Yeah, I would not hesitate to anoint Beachwood BBQ a better brewpub (if you call it that... Brewrestaurant?) than Lagunitas.

Sour bottles are $12, limit 6 I believe.

 

It was limit a case of each sour when I was there less than a month ago.

 

I don't normally buy that many at a time, it's probably 12 then.

 

Yeah, I went a bit overboard since their distribution in San Diego has fizzled a bit and/or I talk up Plaza a lot that more people go there before me and buy out the RR bottles. =P

...except that there's a Lagunitas about 15 miles down the 101 from Russian River, Smarty McSmart Pants.

 

So, I was planning on going to the brewpub this Sunday, provided I can sneak away from family obligations in San Rafael. Is there typically a line on Sundays (my guess from some of the answers above is yes...)?

I'm more confused as to why she's telling me how close Lagunitas is to Russian River, because that has no bearing on my initial comment.

 

I thought you were mocking the person who suggested that Lagunitas was better by suggesting that Lagunitas is really far away (with a snarky "Do you know how big California is"), when in fact the taproom is right down the road. Sorry if I misunderstood or read to fast, the phone app isn't super conducive to getting full context.

Not to thread jack, but I just booked at trip to Ca for Christmas thru New Years. Is there anything special going on?

 

For a table, yes, I was there for dinner on a Sunday in March and the wait was about 45 minutes. If you're just going to grab a couple beers, you can probably grab a barstool or at worst, find some space to stand.

Was there last year during the week of New Years and there was nothing special going on. Though Beatification had come out a little while before so they still had some on tap.

 

It's not a big deal. I was responding to the statement that Lagunitas is the best brewpub in California. California is a huge state, and I imagine it's difficult if not impossible to declare one single brewpub the best in the state.
