After having a few "hyped up" seasonal beers, I think Founders Harvest deserves more credit as a great hoppy ale. It receives good ratings but not a single mention throughout the year. I'd hate to see it turn into one of these heavily hyped beers, but it deserves a little love in my opinion.

sooo jazzed about that. Going to buy a case next time I swing through CT. My dad is hooked on the kolsch too, and turned a bunch of his friends onto it. So glad they're distributing more.

I'm perusing the selection in the beer aisle a while back and some guy comes in and grabs a case of Alaskan Amber, then notifies me on the way out, "the only beer you'll ever need" or something to that effect. I'm pretty sure I was completely expressionless.

i think arcadia in general is under-appreciated for some reason. maybe they're eclipsed by (admittedly better) other michigan brewers? i haven't had their full line up, but the 2 or 3 beers i've had have been very good.

@GoGators yeah, weyerbacher is great. i've bought more insanity in the last several months than any other beer.

anything by anchor is, at least in BA / beernerd circles, under-appreciated.

agree about captain lawrence; their less flashy beer (freschchester pale ale and to some degree the DIPA) is really great.

Definitely agree with Arcadia. I had a good amount of their beers while I was living in Michigan, and I don't think I was disappointed by any of them.

Thought about this for a while, lots of mentions I agree with, and one I rarely see get any love is Grand Imperial Porter. It's fairly available and inexpensive, ages well, and displays an awesome date, fig, prune, raisin character that I really like in a Baltic porter. Its rating on this site is too low imho.

I think Left Hand 400 Pound Monkey is wonderful, subtle and definitely overlooked. Even by me sometimes—but then I remember and pick up a sixer.

Thirsty Dog Siberian Night. Its in a rough category (RIS), but I really think it can hold its own against the likes of Old Raspy and others.

even some of their others are overlooked. Whippet Wheat is pretty good, as is Cerberus (trippel).
