Those of you with experience, whether with CR WnB or other cinnamon spiced beers...does the cinnamon tend to fade with time?

I've recently acquire a 2013 CR WnB and am trying to decide if I should drink now, b/c the cinnamon may fade. Just don't have much experience with cinnamon beers.

Trying to decide if I should drink it tonight or if I'm okay saving it for cooler weather. TIA!

The Terrapin beers have very little flavor to begin with, so I would consume as soon as possible. That was definitely the best of the special 22oz beers they've done so far though. That was the only one that followed the namesake, but I would definitely drink it soon. I'm sure the spices will fade quickly.

That beer is already a year old, I'm sure the cinnamon is long gone. But the cinnamon was really cloying and distracting so that might be a good thing at this point.

We had it at a share about 2 months ago and it already had the aroma of green onions and the cinnamon was almost gone, but faintly there

The real issue for me isn't whether the cinnamon falls off, but whether the coffee fades. In my experience, spices do tend to fall off with time, but coffee falls even faster. In other words, you need to consider the effect of time on the beer as a whole.

That said, I had one at about 5-6 months out, and it was not as aggressively spiced. That's not to say it wasn't good--it certainly was. Just not as pronounced. If you're really curious--why not crack it open and drink it now? Cooler weather is already here--in ATL at least. Beer is meant to be drunk.

CRWnB was nice, but regular, fresh WnB is phenomenal. This special edition was fun, but it didn't elevate Terrapin's best beer, IMO. That said, Terrapin had the good sense to use the "right" cinnamon flavor (think Makara) for this release. That is important.

I'm on the other side of this but maybe it's how I store mine in a beer refrigerator at regular fridge temps (not like my Uline). I just cracked one two weeks ago and it's still going strong.

Last week at a share, we had one of my 2013 GGourds and it drank better than even 3 months on it last year. It blew away the 2014 we tasted against.

With any of my "spiced" brews, a regular fridge has worked great for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies. It drank fairly well. The cinnamon wasn't really all that noticeable, but was there. Not sure how this one was stores, considering I received it in a trade. I stored it at normal fridge temps while I had it. Nonetheless, the normal WnB is by far the best Terrapin beer I've had.

Regular WnB is a fine beer. As for spices, give good ol' Pumpkinfest a try if you can get it fresh.

The "best" Terrapin I've ever had was Southern Slice, their collaboration with CCB. I still can't get over how amazing that beer was.

Now that I think of it, I actually have had the Southern Slice collaboration. Forgot all about it to be honest. It was good, but I'd be lying if I said the majority of it wasn't finished off by the GF. She loved it. I thought it was alright; a decent beer.

    Interesting hearing how tastes differ.

Drink it now. As with all Terrapin beers in general.

Yes the southern slice was awesome. Really bummed that I didnt grab more of it. I grabbed 3-4 bottles, but sent 2 of them out on trades. Had I know how good it was, I probably would have just grabbed the case.

Tastes do differ. Me, I go for the sweet stuff, and I know it.

Southern Slice was just an outstanding beer for me. It proved that you could actually flavor a Doppelbock and get a good result, something I had never considered up to that point. It also did a great job of showing off vanilla flavors, which are really difficult to get right in beer.

In all honesty, Terrapin has made some great beers over the years. I still fondly remember The Iron Tankard and Double Feature from the Georgia Theatre series (which was a worthwhile project). And a few of the Side Projects, such as Depth Charge, The Dark Side, and the original Liquid Bliss also have stood out for me.

Agree. Drink it now. It gets really good as it reaches room temperature.
