Once I started to open the box I realized quickly that there is no boundaries to the generosity of BA'ers. Much thanks to @Ncpogs for the great box of Midwest love. First the boxes the little fedex man had to carry to my door also kudos to him for ringing the bell and not leaving them in the rain.

Yeah, sprayberry is his. He is not there all that often but I have had a few discussions with him. My friend matt who works at monday night brewing is good friends with him.

Thanks! I am in Chicago and not being able to drink a beer until tomorrow. This sucks! But I already have prepared a little selection for after the race.

Wow UPS is pricy! If I'm not mistaken, the same two boxes via FedEx would be more like $55-60

They are both insured for $500. Instead of regular $100 limited insurance. Cost $6-15 more a box depending on size and value.

I spent 100 dollars shipping 3 boxes of beer this week. All with $100 insurance. 2 to my target. 1 to someone who isn't expecting it.

Oh, that'll do it. I'm curious, why the extra insurance? Just to stick it to UPS if they screw up?

Well lehigh, the reason why is, they are less inclined to break it, and if i tell then they are collectible, the usually refund entire amout for the beer an shippjng. Plus usually pay out alot more then its worth.

Ok, I get that, but does the math work? To pick a number in the middle, say $10, per box you send out, if they lose/break the box you get an extra $400 more than if you didn't buy insurance. So, if they break/lose more than 1 in 40 boxes, it's worth it. Is that your experience?

The way it was explained to me is, say I value the box at $450, I can insure it for $500, and if the box is destroyed or such. I get the entire amount that was stated as value originally. Now say if the box is valued at $450, and you don't do the $500 insurance option, just regularly ship it with the 100 dollar insurance norm, you would only get $100 back from box.

At least that's how its been explained to me. I have never had a broken bottle, but if I do I want to know I am getting the cash back to reimburse the person I am trading with, because I usually am trading for at least 1 or 2 rarer things you cant easily get.

The way I look at it, and I think a number of beer traders look at it, is that it's going to be next to impossible to get anyone to pay an insurance claim on shipping beer considering you aren't really supposed to do so as a consumer...

I have heard many of BAers on here get refunded the entire amount and sometimes shipping as well for a destroyed box.

Only one is from this BIF (I'm pretty sure!). And yes, it is the bigger AND heavier one. Gonna finish eating, unpacking and then posting the Pr0n!

I was looking forward to making a "Bo"-ing, "Bo"-ing, Gone joke earlier, but my target definitely liked that post. He will surely be happy with the content of the box that he will receive after it makes its 2000-plus mile voyage. South. And West. To a state with big (like really big) trees. That's also bordered by water.
