That's one of many I'm excited for. Luckily I've got a rather large share happening tomorrow so some of these will be casualties.

Shopping for this box will be officially finished on Monday when I pick up the last two bottles as they release. Every preferred style will be represented in this box. Can't wait to ship this bad boy out and metaphorically destroy Microsystems' porch.

You guys, I just need one more like, and then I'm at 666 likes, which would be totally brutal. Also drinking this not so brutal but decent Firestone Oaktoberfest. I just want a really awesome Märzen, I can't say enough how much I enjoy this style. Probably should have put that in my info.

Now off to play more D3.

That's exactly true, but it comes down to 'how often can you get that $500".

If you ship 40 boxes, and get that $500 in a claim once, but paid $10 every time for insurance (on average), that's $400 spent on insurance, and $500 gained from the claim, a net of $100. If instead, you did not pay the $10 forty times over, and only got $100 that one time, that's the same net of $100.

So, if you think you'll receive a check for the insured amount of $500 MORE than one in forty times, it's a wise choice. If you think you'll receive a check for the insured amount of $500 LESS than one in forty times, you're wasting your money.

This calculation is based on a $500 insured amount, the assumption that you get a check if you need to put in a claim (I hear they screw with you sometimes, though I've never experienced it personally), and that the average cost of insurance is $10 (a mid-point in your "insurance costs $6-15 per box" statement).

I actually just received a check for $100 from fedex for a box they lost ... admittedly a damaged box (much more common) is an entirely different issue.

It's starting to sound like this share will be nothing but your and Josh's bottles.... everyone else will leave with what they brought.... Not that I'd complain, I'd just feel bad.

My insurance is styro shippers. If a bottle ever becomes damaged in one of my boxes, someone was intentionally trying to body slam the f**k out of it.

Good call... I use these when I have them and the package is close to the right number of bottles ... the problem for me is it's usually just 2 or 3 bottles, or it's way over a dozen.

Haha same here! I just end up sending more extras in a sixer, or ship more than one box, like in this round!

I have a few 6 bottle shippers, and a 2 bottle magnum 750ml one. But, I tend to wanna save those for rare beer. Ask my target on weds or thursday about my boxes, I get anal about packing and wrapping sometimes I sent one giant box, and 1 small one, probably used $50 worth of wrapping/packing stuff. If I would have sent the styro shippers, would have used all 3 6 bottle shippers I had, plus still had to send a box. Last one I used had Mexican cake in it, or maybe kbs.

Plus a downside, the closest place to me that sells good ones is about an hour drive.

You just validated my reasoning haha, I have never had a box lost, but if it happens I would receive a lot more then $100. And, its not even about the money going in my pocket as much as it is having the money to go buy some more stuff to make up for the lost box. I'd rather pay an extra $10-15, and not ever have the insurance used then to lose all the stuff I sent, and not be able to come up with a box to make up for the first. I dunno I am overly cautious, and like to cover my bases. Growing up with a military father who was in korea, vietnam. Served in the 82nd, finished pathfinder, and ranger school, and went on to become a army combat diver, and then spending 3 1/2 years in the reserves mostly in the 332nd med bde made me like that.
We coordinated, and organized all medical assets in the field, and served as middle men basically between the guys near the front, or at fob's, to the the higher ups.

Every beer is wrapped, plastic wrapped, bagged, the box its self has a plastic lining on the outside I close up before I close the box, plus layers of super absorbent cloths on sides top and bottom, which can absorb around 64-72ozs, and still be used.

Figured I'd try in here first... Looking for some Westbrook Gose, wanting to see if anyone had some willing to trade?

I've shipped maybe 5 boxes, and packed well, but only used a shipper once (the return trip of a LICC me). But I have a 12 bottle styro shipper from round 1, and figure I'll use it either this round (as one of 2 and hopefully not 3 boxes) or for the 12 days of xmas BIF. The deciding criteria will basically be if I have enough larger bottles to mostly fill the styro shipper

I'm down to my last couple cans from my own trade, but if no one from in their distro can help you out, I'll toss one your way.

edit: Looks like Mike beat me to it, but let me know if you need me.

Another thing I like to do with styro shippers is to double up a slot; 2 cans or a stubby bottle and a can will fit in 1 slot. Ten Fidy and Old Rasputin makes for a great single slot item

My coworkers love when I get beer mail at work! They always gather around and are almost as excited as I am to open it and see what's inside :stuck_out_tongue:
