So the house where I live has a basement that's shared with several apartments. When I moved there it was packed full of old crap that belonged to people that had moved out long ago. Spent a long time cleaning it up, and discovered two unused closets that were relatively easy to lock. Reinforced it, added shelves and light. Currently housing 54 different beers, most of which imp stouts and sours, as well as some pretty decent wine bottles. I keep adding more than I take out though, so reasonably soon I'll need to add another one I guess. The closet on the left holds all the homebrew that I make.

I'm so jealous of people with actual cellars.. My poor wine fridge struggles in a garage that sits at around 85 degree for 8 months out of the year.

Bring that guy inside and put under some stairs. Or at least out of the sweat box.

One of the main selling points of my house. Built in closet with back and left side touching concrete. Shelves are cedar with cedar barn doors. Need to clean up the hardware a bit, maybe add some horizontal storage. More photos in link

I am getting the feeling that viewing this thread again is going to cost me a lot of money but that's ok.

This is possibly not so much in the spirit of the thread, as these are not in their resting places (a bunch of cases in the corner of the room isn't as cool as some of yours), but I pulled my cellar out recently for a little organization:

This isn't really a "cellar", but since I've been stocking up on beer lately from trades and whatnot...

Shit man, so many of ya have soooo much beer saved. Makes me wonder if many like to "cellar" mainly for the sake of building a cool collection to look at and be able to tell friends u have this or that beer. Seriously, how long will it take to drink all those beer before it loses it's peakness or runs the risk of getting oxidized? I only have one box of beers that I cellar and even after one year of aging I start getting nervous if that's too long to wait before it starts to decline and waste out on all that money I spent on the beers

@Superflyjsc it depends on what you're cellaring and how much beer you drink I guess. I have a ton of beer in my cellar, but it's mainly all Barleywines, Quads, Sours, Imperial Stouts. I've been cellaring for 4-5 years now and I've yet to open a beer that I thought tasted too old. (or thought that I wasted it by keeping it for too long)

Some beers will go for years, others decades. It is my intention at least to have something special for holidays to open and share with relatives- either grown nieces or grandkids. I'd like to be that crazy uncle/grandpa with the really old beer that gets his younger relatives all drunk and hungover, much like my epic hangovers at my uncles house with his fancy liquor and wine from the 70s and 80s. Nothing like drinking a family members fancy booze, I'd like to continue that tradition with my own flair with beers.

Don't you have concerns of oxidation though from cellaring over a year? I would hate to think all these fantastic hard to get beers would turn into drain pours cause it waited too long no?

I had one of those Green Monsters lately. It was an acetic piece of shit that worsened as it warmed. I drain poured it. Don't see that one getting better. Sorry.

One of the most important features of any cellar is darkness - light kills beers. Perhaps you might want to use this to keep your glassware in, but not bottles of beer!

I guess you gotta update this photo. One less Abyss and a new BA stout to add to that cellar, sorry for the stalker status on that trade but Malefactor is a solid trade partner!

Doing the best I can with what I got. I'd like to eventually upgrade to some sturdier shelving. No rhyme or reason to the cellar. Just holding my rarer items, multiples, and shit I haven't gotten to yet. [IMG]
