I´m trying to find out what´s on draft around Portland at the moment from Boneyard so I can put up an ISO for a growler or two. I rarely see it mentioned in the main trade forums.

Also, what´s the likelihood of trading growlers overseas, anyone ever done it? I´ve taken some home by planes before and they´ve been fine. However, these were properly counter-pressure filled, do many places have this option?

You can usually get what you are looking for. Throw out a specific iso. I have some swing top growlers that will hold up well overseas. BM me, I'll try to help you out.

You're probably right that Portland has more traders, but Boneyard is actually located about 3 hours away in Bend, OR. The brewery seldom has brewery-exclusive beers, but unless you have a specific reason you don't need to limit yourself to Portland only.

You may have just missed the window of opportunity on Notorious (I'm seeing it on tap, but not for growler fills) but it's still worth a shot. Hop Venom and RPM are highly likely. I know Bone A Fide and Black 13 are on tap at Growler Guys in PDX. Armored Fist and Suge Knite seem unlikely.

As long as you're trading over seas, you may want to consider the following which I've seen on tap around Portland lately / now:

    10 Barrel Apricot Crush
    10 Barrel Cucumber Crush
Barley Brown's Pallet Jack (for real, do it) ... or Forklift, Handtruck, Tank Slapper.

FYI, last trade I saw for Notorious was for Hill Farmstead CD10, so apparently some folks are throwing big bottles at it.

I wasn't really into this new batch of notorious. But yeah it does trade well

Glad to hear that it wasn't just me who felt tihs last batch of Notorious was a bit underwhelming.

We didn't get a whole lot of it here in Eugene this last time, so I made a special point to stop by Growler Nation to get some. When I ordered my glass, my first thought was that they'd served me the wrong beer. Not that it tasted bad, but it was really different (I thought) from previous batches I'd had (and I've drunk a LOT of notorious, and at many different locations). I'm still wondering if the keg at growler nation was off in some way, or if maybe they didn't clean the tap lines before putting on the keg (the owner is nice, but not the most sophisticated bar owner I've come across - this would not be the first time I've tried a beer I thought was off because of a dirty tap line). Obviously, I'm not going to give up on drinking notorious, but yeah... the last batch seemed a bit off, or at least a bit different, from previous batches I've had.

Nope your not crazy. Though maybe we both are. We actually poured out the last bit, very thick like and tasted really off. But I'll still be looking for it next time.

Thanks for the info, I´ll put up an ISO in a few days.
10 Barrel does look interesting but I have quite a few sours right now.

I really miss good fresh hoppy stuff and I can´t hold out til my next vacation to the west coast.
The scene here in Spain is slowly getting into it´s stride but as yet there have been only two local IPA´s that I liked.

Makes sense. Breakside's IPAs - regular IPA and Wanderlust - just won some awards at GABF and they're easy to come by. Might as well try to get them as well while you're hunting the more elusive Boneyard!

ABV pub in Hillsboro just posted they have Notorious, but they aren't allowing growler fills - just glasses. Seems like that's pretty typical in the Portland area for Notorious and Hop Venom, isn't it?

Notorious, yes. A lot of places will let you do growlers of Hop Venom though. The place I used to get $10 fills of Notorious hasn't had it in a looong time, wondering if that's not a coincidence.

I'm guessing that maybe there was just something wrong with that particular keg. I stopped by Growler Nation last night, and sure enough, they had another keg of notorious on (that the owner told me he had just tapped). I tried a sample first, just to be on the safe side, and what do you know, it was as good as ever (so I ordered a 12 ounce glass).

^ was going to say, it tasted better than ever to me.

Tin Bucket did growlers of Notorious. I got a halfie. It ruled. Best beer ever.

Bobs Liquor on Lake City in Seattle did growlers of Notorious a while back. Amazing as always.

And whenever I'm in Bend, if it's on at the brewery I get a growler.

At Boneyard, Notorious was gone in about 3-4 hours on Saturday. Hop Venom was gone by around 1pm on Sunday.

I got fills of Hop Venom at Growler Guys Westside on Sunday.

I have had Hop Venom quite a few times over the years, but Notorious was pretty special.

My group also hit Barley Browns on the way home... 4x DIPA's on tap along with all the other IPA's. I was happy we made the trip.
