Troegs perpetual was the first ipa I ever tried, and it was accidental. I had been getting troeginator from a local pizza place. Saw a troeg variety at the distributor and got it to see what else they had. I didn't even know what an ipa was yet. The variety included troeginator, perpetual, and javahead. Was a huge departure from my lager filled past. Loved it, and never turned back.

After branching out and trying so many new craft beers and I just can't go back to Miller. I sometimes wonder what I even liked about it in the first place.......

Mill Street Cobblestone Stout (while definitely nothing mind-blowing) helped me get into Porters and Stouts. My experiences with dark lagers prior to this had me thinking dark beers were not for me. Stouts/Porters are probably my favourite now.

Flying Monkeys Smashbomb Atomic IPA showed me that IPAs can be much more than just bitterness.

I was a big quad and IPA guy at the time... Occasionally would try a stout here or there.

Then my brother and I snagged a bottle of FBS- and we both looked at each other and said at the same time "holy sh*t!"

It's been an awesome malty, barley, coffee ride since- cheers!

canned IPA such as Troegs and Dales showed me that IPA is sooo much better in a can. Which also caused me to become a ticker.

PseudoSue made me realize how tasty a (single-hop, citra) IPA could be, and Scream made me realize how tasty a (multi-hop, double) IPA could be. That said, neither changed my opinion of Zombie Dust, which I still can't stand. :-|

Dogfish Head 120 Minute - made realize I don't mind IPAs
Goose Island BCBS - taught me I prefer barrel aged beers
Alesmith Speedway and Founders - Taught me the benefits of cellar aging
The Bruery - Made me understand the benefit of a centralized beer program with a diversity product offering.

Fresher beers I've picked at the brewery or shortly after canning/bottling have highlighted the immense difference in IPAs for me.

For me, Revolution Anti-Hero really raised the bar for IPAs.

Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. First time I had it I wasn't sure, but I was hooked by the second bottle. It helped that I let it warm up a little bit more the second time so the head was much better and the flavors improved as well. I'm going to go back to Allagash Black because I hated Black the first time I tried it, detected a similar flavor in DFH Indian Brown, have accepted it, and so I'm thinking that maybe I'll like Black better this time around. Yes, these are vastly different brews but hey, that's how it tasted to me so we'll see.
