I would give him Victory Hop Ranch when it comes out in the wintwer (seasonal). This is the best IPA I ever had hands down.

This doesn't really sound like advocacy - it sounds more like a mocking criticism of BMC drinkers.

He's drinking Two Hearted. He's drinking barleywines. It sounds like he already has some idea of what he likes, and is still trying other things. If it turns out he only likes what he's had so far and not much, there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing to "get" about beer. It's a drink. You're free to like it or dislike it as you please.

My advice is to just make sure he doesn't carry over the bad habits of a BMC drinker, i.e., find one beer and never try anything different. He does seem to be well on his way to expanding his taste horizons, however.

If his go-to is an IPA and he enjoys the punch behind a barleywine, get your friend a damn good DIPA! Hops and punch all rolled into one!

I'll always recommend Double Jack because it's easy to get. Perhaps a Victory DirtWolf. But you're in Minnesota. Plenty of great hoppy beers in your area.

Yep that sounds like a great suggestion to me... enjoy the journey with your buddy but let him just feel his own way round the topic...

I tend not to agree... the assumption in the video here is based on 'Ice cold beer and a certain type of glass'. I think it really depends on the beer style in question, its correct serving temperature and the type of glassware it is being decanted into.
There is also a matter of individual taste that comes into play.. My Father-in-law is Dutch and if his Lager or Pilsner has anything less than two generous fingers of head then he rags on the bar man...

But if you're pouring Lager into the glass in the video then yeah i guess it is fine, although the glass should alwasy be the same temp as the beer going into it..

But hey this is just my opinion and at the end of the day I'm just a guy in a tee-shirt...

It sounds like he already gets it. Time to let him leave the nest on his own and explore the world for himself. I navigated my way into the craft beer world primarily on my own. The only thing to do is just try as many new beers as possible.

I also thought it to be a bit too broad and generalizing.
    Thanks for your opinion!
