Thanks for the heads up, but I'm going to pass on this one. I told my wife I wouldn't join any new BIFs (technically, re-upping in the NFL doesn't count, right?) for a while, so I need to pass. Funny though, I enjoy the NBA.

This is brilliant. I'm in if I can have the Rockets.

And I have a (small) LIF box of Houston locals for the team that gets the fewest distinct numbers, or the last team to get all ten.

This is actually exactly my excuse too. Sorry @hansenm72 , this sounds like a lot of fun though. Next year!

The degenerate in me can't help but signing up. Let's go with 'Utah Jazz' for 100, Alex.

@concealed saw that you expressed interest in another thread. You in? What team do you want? Any other takers? Plenty of room.

Had wanted to the Celtics, I actually should skip this, not buying/drinking as much beer as I used to

    Sigh... In. Blazers please.

    Just to be clear;

    1) Most unique scores by the all-star break wins a box of 44oz from everyone else? Same for after the all-star break?

    2) Tie breaker is what?

Good question on a tiebreaker, my .02 is the highest score, which sets up easy 2nd, 3rd, etc tiebreaks as you go down the list.

That or most total points would be my suggestion.

    Im fine with whatever.

    That's 12.

    1) Yes
    2) Tiebreaker is highest single game score (this will help even out minor variations in number of games played, since not all teams will play same # of games pre-all-star break.

Serious question for everyone else, I'm having doubts that we will fill up this league. My original idea was to have half the league ship at all-star break and other half ship at the end of the season. Do we want to do everyone for each half? Still split it in 2 segments (as of right now 5 boxes for each winner?) Or do we not want to do the league if we can't fill it?

I only want to risk one box in this BIF so I would be for the original concept of half people ship at all-star break and the other half people ship end. I am little confused though on how determined who ships each half, because if 12 people are in and 5 people ship first half and one winner that was half the group. 2nd half would be other half? but if the winner comes out of the first half than 6 people ship?

Fair question, the concept needs some fine tuning, and I need to think of a workable solution for that issue.

*Disclaimer: As a non-participant lurker, feel free to tell me to F off at any time.

I never quite understood the "half ship in the first half, half in the 2nd half" concept either; you could just do the bottom 6 (if 12 participants) ship both halves, which means some might ship twice and some not at all; I assume that distribution of unique scores, especially with varying game totals, should take care of the randomness, it's not like we're talking about conference standing.

Now that I mention conferences, while it makes half the season uninteresting for half the group at a time, another idea (given that 12 participants are split evenly) is to split it into East/West groups, East conference ships 1st half, West conference ships 2nd half.

Last idea I'll throw out there is to scrap the half-season approach entirely and make it a single season-long competition, winner take all (or maybe a runner up and 10 boxes go out)

Tiebreaker in the HR league I was in was team to complete the series in the lowest number of games. If a second tie breaker is needed after that, perhaps total points? Just a suggestion

For HRs that's a great solution, but for "most unique scores in games" I'm not sure how "fewest games to get the most different scores" would really work

@Lehighace06 Are you getting in this thing ? or just commenting on how it should be ran ?

First of all, I'm not saying how it should be ran, I'm just throwing ideas out there to help out. Secondly... I'm still thinking about it, like others I have a hard time caring about the NBA even with beer riding on it.

    This offer still stands.
