Just heard this last night. Going into a space that was a wine bar or some such.

Smaller tap wall than normal. Like 12 taps. Not sure when it opens but it sounded like soon.

It won't be in Town Square exactly, but in a strangely situated strip mall directly East of Town Square that is on FM 1709 but doesn't have any frontage on that road (the front of the building is around back -- doesn't make sense until you see it) The building has a Jared's, AT&T store and Which Wich, etc.

This site says it will open this month:

Here is what was in the Star-Telegram a couple months ago:

    http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/04/11/3875585/ginger-man-bar-wants-to-move-into.html

SOUTHLAKE—The Ginger Man bar wants to move into space formerly occupied by the Wine Loft in Southlake Town Square.
The bar boasts dozens of beers on draft and in the bottle, both domestic and from all over the world, at its Dallas, Fort Worth and Plano locations.
Co-owner Christy Zirnheld wants to open in the two-story location next to Which Wich at 1512 E. Southlake Blvd. The bar is seeking the same specific use permit the Wine Loft received in 2008. The Wine Loft closed late last year.
The Ginger Man request was raised at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting last week, but commissioners were concerned because the bar hadn’t gotten feedback from nearby brownstone residents.
Commissioners tabled the vote to April 19 so the city could host a Southlake Program for the Involvement of Neighborhood (SPIN) meeting.
Todd Parish, vice chairman of the commission, said SPIN notifications go out to a wider radius and it’s important to get feedback from the community before voting.
“Those brownstones are an active part of our community,” Parish said. “They will tell you one way or another whether they like the idea.”
The City Council will make a final decision, possibly as soon as May 1.

Why would anyone want to go to Southlake? I'd rather drink Tecate and eat broken glass.

Because that's where the rich people are.

Yeah, rich people with no taste. Highland Park and Lakewood residents get spontaneous nausea at the sight of Southlake Town Center.

I know one Southlake resident who bought Rahr's BBWW half off at a Kroger. Genius.

Stopped to check progress yesterday and there is no action. Asked somebody next door and she said that it isn't expected to open before fall.

As a person who used to work in Southlake, I can only offer advice that if you go to the Gingerman and have drank any alcohol, have a designated driver on the way home. The Southlake PD's headquarters are in Town Square (just west of the Hilton on Carroll Avenue) and every time I would leave the Town Hall late at night (not far from where the Gingerman will be) there would be tons of cops everywhere. I guess it was because Southlake is a town with basically zero crime, so the only thing the cops have to do is sit there and wait for people leaving the bars.

I guess whoever sold them didn't understand just how damn good the beer is. My best guess is that they thought it was "old" so it was "bad" and wanted to get rid of them.

This is most definitely true. While there is some crime, like illegal immigrant traffickers who steal large trucks from Southlake residents (happened to my friend), the cops really have nothing better to do and park their Dodge Chargers around town and pull rich people over. My parents live in Colleyville (really close) and I'm always shaking my head at where they're parked. My FWPD friend would laugh at them. In any case, having a sober ride is always the best option.

I'm glad we finally have a Ginger Man coming to Southlake. I'm disappointed that they are going to have a smaller tap wall. If you're going to do it do it right.

As someone who lives about 10-15 minutes from there, I am excited about it. Right now the Keller/Southlake/Far North Ft Worth area is a wasteland when it comes to bars with a decent craft tap list.

Couldn't agree more. I grew up near there and my parents still live in Keller/ Southlake area. It'll be nice to have a decent place to drink while visiting.

Job posting appears to confirm a beer selection on par with normal Ginger Man selections. Good news.

Damn it! Is San Antonio that lame that we can't get a Ginger Man?

General Manager of this new SL GMan(Micheal) was a manager at FW's GMan. He's a good dude, and I wish him tons of luck and success... but I'll probably never visit this bar for reasons stated above.

I hate cops... especially ones looking for drunk dudes to hassle. And with my luck, I'll be that dude.
