Side project the origin was disgusting. I don't care what style of beer that was trying to be, its a good thing its not going to be made again.

I've had numerous whales (to me anyway) and really don't know if I've had a whale that has completed disappointed. Now Barleywine is a style that has failed me time and time again, and I haven't sought after any of the difficult to acquire ones yet. If I ever do have a whale-fail that will probably be the style that kills me.

Haha, thats a cool story. It definitely took me a while to get into sours but now I can't stop drinking them. Also, if I were a brewer and some non-sour guys said my "gooze" tasted like wet boots I would consider that a compliment haha. That bee the funk mon.

Yep. But the notion of bubble packing beers then traipsing my ass to FedEx to pay 20 dollars to send you beer is not appealing to me right now

I was disappointed by Duck duck gooze Its not a bad beer its just not that great and definitely not worth the price tag or what it trades for. Another one is heady topper, its good just not great and im glad I tried it but I wont go out of my way to get it. I would take a focal banger over heady any day.

Pliny for me. Now, I had it twice, both fresh - once under a week old and the other around 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good beer, but it wasn't the "angels singing" experience I was looking for. Could it be that the hype preceded it and gave me impossible expectations? Sure. But I've had plenty of beers that we almost, if not as good, and readily available locally.

2013 The Bruery's White Chocolate - the infection really messed with the intentions of this beer.

Not the biggest whale but Bells Black Note 2013...
Reason I qualified as a whale was the struggle to acquire a bottle around Chicagoland, the brewery is 3 hours away come on meow. Also, way over carbonated of a brew that has been consistently ranked in the top 20. Expedition is better..

My #2, Pliny... Made a drunken trade out of my backpack at DLD '14 and woke up with this bottle of Pliny staring at me in the fridge, definitely not worth the hype. I'll lose this opinion maybe if I try on tap.

I haven't had time to read through this whole thread but I stopped at the 7th or 8th post when people kept naming off PTE and Darklord as "Whales".

Not really whalez, but I agree on dark Lord and kbs. Both are super hyped and didn't deliver in my eyes.
