Sounds like about 4,000 people were at the Gull Dam opening and they burned through 33 kegs of beer on their opening day.

That's huge... I am hoping these two statements are related? More details on this are needed ASAP! Give us the scoop @BeerBoy!

Yeah, that is a HUGE number! I can only wonder when they will hit the Ale Jail. :sunglasses:

Well, we go through 400 kegs at Bockfest with 6000 people.:grimacing:

And looking at the event: BBQ and Lamont Cranston?

I see that my link failed (too many 750 Wales + multi-tasking?), but the BrewFarm is indeed for sale, and Vine Park's Dan Justesen has a new venture which is underway. Shh! It's only fit for us "Double-secret Probation" types to be in the know on all of this jive...

I actually heard about this a while ago. :grinning:

What's the story with selling the BrewFarm? Is Dave getting out of the biz, or moving on to something different/bigger?

I hope moving onto something different. My crowd is a huge fan of the BrewFarm & I'd be sad to see his maniacal brews vanish from the face of the earth.

'Tis true - we've put the BrewFarm up for sale. And before any rumors/assumptions start flying, this sale is not one of financial necessity/marital discord/physical health. It's just time for us to move onto new adventures and find a new caretaker for the BrewFarm to carry on what we've built/established. Selling it as a turn-key operation, it'd be a perfect opportunity for someone(s) to step right in and keep on building.
I'll be staying in the beer biz and have a few ventures in mind - I'll keep y'all appraised as things start to unfold. And until a sale transacts, it'll be business as usual for us here at the BrewFarm - cranking out tasty innovative beers, holding open Taproom weekends a couple times a month and spreading better beer throughout WI.
    Any buyers lurking out there???

    Cheers!

I most definitely look forward to whatever type of collaboratin' vis-a-vis new recipes that the future might bring. One of my most awesome-ever pipe dreams involved you ghostwriting some recipes for my crazy start-up, but that was years ago, and we all change plans as we keep spinnin' 'round the blue marble and the yellow-orange mass of incandescent gas.

    Thanks for everything, Farmer D~!

Had a chance to drink all the canned offering from Bauhaus over the weekend. This operation is legit. Top notch efforts particularly the pilsner but all four were beers I will be buying again. Just when you think the local beer scene can't get any better it does.

Waconia Brewing official opening tomorrow. If you happen to go and you want to meet me I'll be wearing a Waconia Brewing hoodie. ;-)

BTW, their new website is up.

Has this been mentioned before? The City of Chaska plans to build a "Curling Event Center" and Crooked Pint is their chosen partner for the attached restaurant/bar. In some versions of the story said bar is planned to be a Brew Pub.

Does anyone have a running count of MN breweries?

It depends upon whose list you use; My best count is 135 -- including "beer companies" and breweries-in-planning.

I have 85 that are currently open. This includes breweries (with and without taproom), brewpubs, and breweries that contract their beer out (12, but I haven't double checked a couple of them and some have taprooms in planning).

I've mentioned before that Wander North Distillery is opening a cocktail room soon and it's in the same building as Northgate Brewing. I just noticed that Dashfire Bitters Distillery is also building a cocktail room. They're very close to Flat Earth Brewing in St. Paul.

The law doesn't allow one company to run a cocktail room and taproom. Nor can two different companies "co locate", but it's clear they can be very near each other.
