Orange, black, purple, red and pink(java) wax colors. I'm not sure what variants they are.

Have you tried Rock n Brews in Paia? Great beer selection and good food. Fun atmosphere too.

Wonder if it's the same at the other whole foods on the islands? That would be awesome!

wow, i remember seeing some eclipse when i was there. it was normal price, but i was impressed to see it on shelves

i get the feeling people in Hawaii aren't often interested in drinking huge barrel aged stouts

Rock n Brews is a definite plus, but i was a bit underwhelmed with the selection when i went there. i guess pretty good for hawaii, but it would be very average one here. i won't complain about Sculpin on tap though

I was surprised to see it on the shelves too and it wasn't way overpriced like many other mainland beers here (ie old Cimtra for $15). While I really like Eclipse beers, I just can't bring myself to pay that much for it. I've only ever had it when someone bought a bottle to share. I'm kind of cheap though, my limit is $20 and it has to be pretty damn special. The heat here, definitely snuffs out my desire for heavier beers though, so Primos or Hinanos are usually stocked in the fridge.

Yeah, I called the Kailua Whole Foods here on Oahu, they only had two left, they were regular price. I lose. 8(

Of course, if you want to bring/send me one, that'd be awesome. 8)

Mamas fish house is a must. Make reservations and try to get a table with a view. The stuffed mahi is amazing.

If you get bottles or cans of IPAs here, check the dates. It's hard to find anything that's not at least 2+ months old here. Yes, even Kona and Maui IPAs for some reason. I saw some Clown Shoes Supercake at the store last night from February.

Speaking on our beers, we do our best to make sure we're sending packages that were bottled the week of shipping. It takes roughly 6 weeks in transport to travel across the country on a truck, transfers in LA into a shipping container, then is shipped across the Pacific to Oahu where it is then transferred to warehouses on each island and then put on a truck and sent to the store. The whole time the beer is refrigerated to keep it in the best shape possible. It's not a perfect system but for now it is the best we could do. I imagine a lot of other brands (especially East Coast) have the same shipping times which explains why you see 'older' product on the shelves as compared to the mainland.

    Have a good trip!

I'll be in Lahaina, HI in 2 weeks. I see a Tamura's i was planning to hit up for bottles for my trip. Question: is it worth it to drive the 45? minutes to the whole foods on the other side of the island or would Tamura's be comparable?

Thanks! I'll be 4 min from the Maui brewpub. Will be with family so unsure how my access to a car will end up. Any other suggestions right in the Lahaina area?

Any idea what the name of this taproom is? I was looking on the Marriott website and don't see anything about it. Thanks!

Tamuras and Whole foods are both in Town (Kahalui) so when you land you should just go right away before you drive to your hotel in Lahaina.

I may try that but traveling with a 1yr old and some other family so not sure how receptive they'll be to making a beer run right when we land.

Would the Tamuras in Lahaina be much worse as far as selection than the Kahalui spots? thx!

I doubt it, just thought killing two birds with one stone at the beginning of the trip might be easier .

I was there at the end of December into the beginning of January. They both have pretty much the same beers.

Anyone have any more info on this taproom Marriott? Couldn't find anything about it online. Going to be in Maui in May and likely staying at the Marriott...
