Wagner Brothers Brewery - Austin

I went in with the intention to offer some friendly professional advice (I've been a logo designer for 20 years). I'd hate to see them waste a bunch of money on a rebrand- that shit is expensive. Especially for a small business. One thing they seem to not understand is that Warner, as the trademark holder, is LEGALLY OBLIGATED to defend their trademark. Better to get it over with before they spend even more on WB branded mercy, listings, ads, etc. I was sincerely looking out for them.

 

Here's a handy guide I made to show how they probably made their logo (after they rejected my advice to have a trademark lawyer look at it). I posted it to their page, and it's since been deleted:

 

The inside looks like a rip off from Twin Peaks, great they made it themselves but if they aren't even open yet and running off business with racist comments let em burn.

 

To be clear- The racist comment came from someone who seemed to be a friend of the owner. Here's how it went:

Wagner Bros. Brewery: Not to many ppl can say that 100% of the stuff on the inside of their bar/club was made by hand. Nothing was bought well besides lights of course. But Sam has built this place by hand. Wagners can say we are 110% original. Well worth the wait. I'm so proud to be apart of something like this

Juan De Luna: Original? Your logo/name do not sound original at all

Rusty Jones (one of Wagner's friends, it seems): Only a Wagner could come up with something this unique. Love it Bro!! Only hope I get a chance to visit one day. Outstanding. Juan- Just stick to y your tacos & tamales or better yet, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Wagner Bros. Brewery: My name Juan De Luna??? My last name is Wagner.. Rusty Jones no worries bro there is always somebody that's gonna hate. Just part of life. And also Juan De Luna I used Bros cause it's named after all my family. I have an older brother and my dad has many Bros and we are a very close family. So please if you don't like what you see its so EASY to just delete yourself from this page or I can do it for you. We have a great concept and some very hard workers that have put many months into this. This place is 100% original whether you think so or not sir.

Juan De Luna: Rusty, way to heed your own advice buddy. I really hope you're not the kind of clientele this place attracts... Wagner Bros. I did not mean that to say that your last name is not original. Your logo is an exact trace of the WB logo, and that is what I meant by it not being original. I was simply pointing something out that others have noticed - maybe save you a C&D in the future.

I'm so late to this party. Crazy this is right down the street from my house on 35 by Tinseltown in Pflugerville. You can literally see the building and logo from the freeway. Its in the same parking lot as a small car dealership.

 

Yes, but those are recreations of an actual photo of Hendrix.

 

Right... But literally, the art they used is identical to the DeviantArt print. Someone created that original art, and they just used it.

 

Your'e right that's lame as hell.

 

Odds are they don't make the best beer, but it would be sad if they did because they're doing a really good job of alienating people before they open. Granted it would appear their target audience probably uses the term brah more often then most people do

So Wagner Brothers Brewery totally makes sense..... (but only if you wanted to use that WB logo )
