If you want to do Tree House first, I'd recommend getting there at/around 10:15 for the 11:00 open. You'd be out of there by 11:30 (at the latest) and you'd have more than enough time to get to Jack's Abby at 1:00, since it's roughly an hour and 10 or 15 minutes from Tree House to Jack's Abby.

As @jomobono says, the lines at Tree House at around 2:30 are usually tame compared to right at 11:00, but you run the risk of whatever is available kicking as the day goes on.

Saturdays afternoon at Tree house are a gamble I went a few weeks ago around 3:45 and they no beer at all I went this past Saturday around 4 was in and out in 10 minutes with Julius and Ma on tap it really depends what is pouring for the week and how busy Thursday and Friday are it seems .

Thanks for the info. It seems getting there before they open is my best option. I would hate to drive all the way out there and possibly miss out on something they had on tap earlier in the day. Plus if I go after JA I won't be getting any lunch any sooner than 3:00.

I think this would be your best option. Good luck and enjoy!

I have found that later in the afternoon there is less of a wait, but you can potentially miss out on some specific.

If you need a quick place to eat a good lunch around JA , check out Stones Publick House in Ashland. Good local draft list and about 10 minutes from the brewery (also close to 495 if your heading back to Maine).

You might want to see what is on this week and how quantities are looking as Saturday approaches and decide accordingly. I have been there later in the day Saturday a few times over the last few months and it has been very mellow so I would think later in the day would be fine, but I am not sure it is always like that.

edit: woops. Somehow a lot of replies that weren't here when I read the thread suddenly showed up when I posted, so I guess this is kind of redundant.

I'll be heading out there tomorrow to celebrate my birthday, and I was wondering if anyone can recommend good some places to eat in the area. I'd also be open to places on the way back to the North Shore.

I was also wondering if arriving around 5:30p is usually sufficient to get fills before closing.

    Thanks!

Getting there at 5:30 is fine, there could be a wait though.

    Food is all in Sturbridge:
BT's Smokehouse for great BBQ and BYOB
    Kaizen for sushi
    Enrico's for pizza
    Cedar Street for American fare
    Friendly's for the conehead sundae.

Forgot to mention Armsby Abbey in Worcester if you were looking for great food and great tap list. BT's has the best tap list for the Sturbridge spots because it is BYOB

Great atmosphere, zero tap list. Mcladden's in Hampden has a good tap list
