Winter releases

I love winter warmer season. That's one of those areas where CO breweries do well - Hibernation, Old Jubilation, Isolation, Never Summer, etc.

 

Winter warmer for me. I really want to like stouts but Ive as of yet not acquired a taste for them.

 

Mostly Ambers, Browns & English stye PAs, ESBs.
I generally prefer a lower ABV (<6%) regardless of time of year.
Of course, I'll still drink pilsners too, but this constitutes the change.

 

Thanks for mentioning the almost always overlooked Geary's Hampshire Special Ale, a favorite of mine as well.

 

Yes! I had forgotten about Isolation...love that brew.

 

I'm on board with this. I'll also go out on a limb and mention that I prefer there to be no added flavor. Four ingredients is enough to keep me happy. Bourbon Barrel Aged? Sometimes yes, sometimes not so much.

 

What's your favorite autumn/winter comfort brew? Factor in nostalgia, please! Here are mine:

• DFH Punkin'
• SN Celebration Ale
• Anchor Our Special Ale

These three are my "must have" signifiers of autumn and winter, and I look forward to them every year.

 

Sam adams Ol fezziwig ale reminds me alot of winter break from college. After finals we used to really tie one on with gallons of crap beers and Jack n cokes. Fezziwig was more for the mellow winter nights.

Still relatively new to craft beer--only been drinking beer a little over a year--but the two fall/winter seasonals thus far that I love are Founders Breakfast Stout and SN Celebration Ale. Mmmm...both are amazing.

Old Fezziwig is still the beer that reminds me the most of the holidays, even after all these years of trying new beers.

For nostalgia's sake, anything from Belgium with 'Noel' on the label always takes me back to those days when there was that one special shelf in the beer places with holiday beers from around the world, and no matter which one you got it was going to be special just because it was so different. Affligem still fills the bill, but I do enjoy St. Bernardus Christmas even better.

I also have to see if Aass Jule Ol is still around; haven't had it in a while.

 

One of my favorite places seems every year to put on a keg of Corsendonck Christmas Ale which moves slowly enough there's some to be had even into the New Year.

 

since I don't have a true favorite I'll go with pure nostalgia I'd have to say GLBC Christmas Ale first true craft beer I ever tried and I thought it was absolutely disgusting still do to this day but it always makes me smile when I see it.

 

Nogne O God Jul. Bit pricey but on a cold day it can't be beat.

Although it may be a bit of an odd choice for Christmas, the New Glarus Apple Ale will always remind me of going home to visit family for the holidays and hanging out with my brother.
