Changes coming at Apex PDX?

Yes, I have confirmed this with Jesse directly. If I recall correctly, he said they have about 2 years left on the lease; and they are looking for a new location.

 

I heard he wanted to pay his rent with a credit card and the landlord wouldn't let him.

 

Will it be rebranded as Toronado PDX?

 

Maybe. Toronado SEA has already broken the trend. Credit cards, baseball games on TV, etc.

 

I realize that there is some serious hate for apex for whatever reason in this forum, but to me, this is a huge bummer. I was a regular when I still lived in town, and I'm there eating tacos and drinking beers every time I make it back. It'll suck to see it go.

 

It's actually non-serious hate for the most part. ;-) I end up there at least once most times I pass throough Portland. Poking at them is just a board meme.

 

Well Toronado SF does play every Giants game, which is probably the worst part about that place

 

Eh, makes no difference to me plenty of better places to go. If they actually made an effort to provide good service then maybe more people would like apex.

 

I like Apex just fine. They have beer. I order beer. They give me beer to drink. I'm not looking for anything else.

 

What's the reason for not renewing the lease, I wonder? I'd think Apex could relocate, maybe landlord has another tenant in mind?

 

Maybe landlord thought,"Hey, these guys are successful, they can afford a sky high rent" or " Alcohol is bad, I'd rather have a sewing machine repair shop in this space." Who knows, but it's fun to speculate. Here's another: "I tried to buy a beer with a credit card, fuck those guys."

SERIOUSLY. the bad service bit (not apex specific ) is so exhausted

 

The property owner probably wants to sell to an investor. It's Division Street after all and with all the recent action being connected to downtown via the new bridge that area is going to blow up even more. It'll be the new Pearl before we know it.

On another note... I like Apex just fine. They have good beer, sometimes priced a little high, but never have been rude. Actually one of the bar tenders chased me down to give me proper change since I was overcharged and he felt bad. How bout that?

Condos is what Jesse told me as well. But apparently the owner is not selling, he's developing the property himself.

 

That's crazy, now even more traffic down in that block, yay.
