I was ticking my beers today and noticed that I'm one tick away from having had 100 beers from the Bruery. The coming milestone doesn't surprise me as I live nearby and they brew great beers that keep me coming back for more, but it does impress me a bit as I reflect on that number for a moment. 100 beers from a single brewery... My first Bruery beer was Loakal Red sometime in 2010. I still enjoy it from time to time. My favorite of theirs is Wanderer. One of my favorite beers of all time. My least fav is a tie between Courverter and Ebony and Oak. Bleh! My most recent one was enjoyed today, Imperial Or Xata (much better than the original). All in all it's been a great journey with them so far, with a few lows and a lot of highs! I'm looking forward towards more great stuff in the future. Any other century clubbers out there want to share their experience with their breweries? *Cheers to all my beer buddies that shared their Bruery bottles. I'm not a society member, but was fortunate enough to receive shares from fellow generous enthusiasts!
Sadly, in my immediate area, I am looking at maybe a quarter of that. At least since I began my journey.
I joined the century club in college freshman year, but it was much different then yours. The night ended with BMC projectile vomit, Busch light if I remember right :-)
I am not a Century club yet, but it's going to be Short's soon. I am at 82 reviews from them alone and it is far above any other brewer in my 2700 ratings, with the closest being Sierra Nevada at 58 thanks to the Beer Camp I buy every year. Shorts releases specialty beers every 2 weeks and I buy them all the time. Favorites? Too many to list. There are a really great handful of awesome beers in the portfolio. I will admit there really is not one I would class as top tier, but I really haven't had a disappointing beer from them, other than maybe Bloody beer and Gingersnap that were way too overly spiced for my liking. IPLs and session IPAs are spot on, and even the pale lagers are some of the best flavorful beers I've had for the style. Their recent batches of the fruit beers were all great as well. (Strawberry shortscake and Key Lime)
I'm a long ways off, but here is how it would work out: Flying Dog (brewhouse rarities, one for each month) Stone (so many different releases each year) DFH (brewpub exclusives if I get out there more often) Mikkeller (it is obvious how that is possible) Burley Oak (might take the lead with all their bottle releases and draft-only options)
Including different vintages: -The Bruery (134) - first was 7 Grain Saison on 8/13/11 -Stone (112) - first was Arrogant Bastard on 3/24/11
I've had 117 beers from Cigar City. Favorites include Life is Like..., Moat Water, Amplitude and the 1st Cafe Americana. Least favorite is probably Florida Cracker. Maduro was my first I think.
I also am here with The Bruery at 192 unique beers reviewed. EDIT: I also am above the century mark with Stone at 125 beers reviewed.
I have had only had 100+ beers from two breweries because most breweries over here simply do not have that many different offerings. Mikkeller: 154 First one I had was a 2007 Vintage during 05/2013, this was the version brewed at Nøgne Ø naturally. Not my favourite of theirs but a solid beer, over the years I have remained fascinated by their use of ingredients, ideas etc. I have been scared away by very high price-tag at numerous points. One of the best beers I have had from them is actually the new house beer of Kulminator in Antwerp which is where I tried my first Mikkeller. It is called Mikkeller 40 Smaragd, 16.5 % ABV Barley Wine aged for 12 months on Château d’Yquem barrels. I also really liked Spontanriesling, George! Barrel Aged Calvados & Black Buffalo. De Molen: 144 Back when I started trying their beers in 2011, I tried a lot of those 18 cl. bottles & back then they were one of the best breweries in the world in my opinion. I tried everything that I could find & the fact that I hadn’t had many RIS’ or barley wines back then probably helped my opinion. Then they switched to a bigger brewery & for a while a lot of their stuff was infected & quality took a nose-dive & they weren’t always flawless before. I feel like they never regained their former glory, they keep making new beers, a lot of them are very interesting styles but quality is really all over the place with a lot of trainwrecks, some of these beers, you really wonder what possessed them? I no longer by them religiously, I have bought only 2 or so bottles in the last year, one of them was just disgusting. Most new ratings are from tastings & visiting their spectacular beer festival. Best beer for me is “Hel & Verdoemenis Wild Turkey Eisbock”, so crazily thick & delicious. 18 % ABV but doesn’t feel like that. Next brewery to probably hit 100: Struise: currently 89 beer sampled
