I would avoid calling places. Just make the trip. As pointed out multiple times in this thread, not everyone on the phone knows what's going on. And as Vav points out, most of the beer buyers prefer when people come in as opposed to calling and checking on something. And it is more beneficial to you in the long run to get to know faces (and they, yours).

^ if it's not out of the way, i'd go in and check. i bet some employees don't check or get too many calls on it and end up frustration. if it's not out of the way that is. Unless you spoke directly to their beer buyer, then nevermind. i'll keep a look out and post if i see something. i haven't gone to look since i got mine late last week.

Don't mean to thread-jack (only slightly, still talking FW), but is there any place in greater Chicagoland that has Sucaba still sitting on the shelf, ideally north or northwest suburbs? Feel free to BM me, any help would be appreciated. Some beers for whatever reason elude me....

I think Capone's still has Sucaba. They want like $19.99 a bottle, if I remember correctly.

Call ahead on that. I picked up the last bottle on the shelf, but maybe there was more in back

Went to West Lakeview last Friday. I asked if Parabola was in, I was told it's in the basement but not on the shelf yet, maybe it wasn't in the system yet, and to ask kristina if she could grab me one. So I found kristina and asked her if it was in. She looked me in the eye and said she didn't get her delivery from that distributor yet (which I knew wasn't true, she had just updated her new releases with a bunch of Firestone Walker beers), and wasn't sure when Parabola would come in. Slightly annoyed at being lied to, I left it at that.

So I called again Saturday to see if it was on the shelf. I was told by someone I didn't know that it was sold out, and has been sold out for a week. Hm.

So I called again Sunday, talked to someone who recognized me, and he said they have it but it's not on the shelf yet. He said he had no idea when it would be for sale. Evidently, "sold out" is code for "we have it but we're not telling anyone we have it yet".

My solution: Tuesday, I called my local Whole Foods (Lakeview), asked for the beer manager, got him on the phone in under 30 seconds, asked if he had Parabola, he said yes and just ask someone in specialty to get me one from the back (where they are keeping it so it's one per customer). I went right then, caught the beer guy on his way home in his street clothes, he asked someone to get me the beer from the back, and that was it. Much less drama and code.

    Lesson learned.

Morenos on 26th & central park still has a ton of Sucaba for $14. At that price I had to get another one. Picked one up last week when in area

Just heard "maybe next week" and that came directly from the FW rep that was in the Binnys.
