    Hi all,

I'll be taking 294 all the way around the city later this week (coming from Michigan going up toward Milwaukee) and am hoping you can help me with some guidance for a (or a few) good "easy on-easy off" bottle shops (and/or breweries that package) to hit on my trip where I can find stuff I can't get in Michigan. I'm specifically looking for any "gems" west of the city, but am open to this thread expanding for other readers with a wider variety of suggestions.

Note: yes, I've been to 3 Floyds and Greenbush, and they're both delicious. For anyone reading this thread looking for suggestions, those are my top 2 breweries if you're making the "Chicago to Michigan/Ohio/Indiana" trip. Also, if you're looking for a bottle shop in the city, I'd highly recommend The Beer Temple.

Final note: I'm definitely NOT going through the city/city traffic this trip. I'll be going in-and-out in 1 day, already spending 8-10 hours in the car and 6-8 hours in meetings and won't have much tolerance for extra traffic  It also appears there are plenty of threads outlining bottle shops and breweries closer to the city to visit.

    Thanks, all!

Woodman's- Kenosha. Rt. 50 Exit, 1 light East. Turn left. I believe, if my memory serves me, that they are debit card or cash only. ?, anyone?

There's a surprisingly good selection at the otherwise grungy looking Homewood Deli and Liquors, at 183rd and Halsted. Five to ten minutes from the expressway. They've had some Pipeworks and Temperence beers as well as other locals I can't remember off the top of my head.

Cash definitely works...not sure on debit. I would just have money on hand unless someone else confirms

not too far off 294, has a great selection.

Also, the new Binny's in Oak Brook, is probably the closest to 294.

I was at the new Oak Brook Binny's last Saturday. I saw some santa's little helper and Barrel Aged Doris on the shelves. Picked up a bottle of Bo & Luke but idk if it is still there.

There's another Prestige in Countryside that isn't too far out of the way either.

    1423 W 55th St, Countryside, IL 60525

They usually have a good selection of Pipeworks, and will get 3 Floyds bombers & 6'ers, as well as many of the other good locals and nationals that we get here.

You could hit the Liquor Barn in Wheeling and the Binny's in Buffalo Grove pretty easily. If you have a little extra time can even hit Dicarlo's in Mundelein. Woodmans in Kenosha is the best, easiest place to stop along your route though. Debit/cash only as many have mentioned. No credit cards.

Oak Brook Binny's would be perfect, but you'll do good to have some MapQuest or GPS to-

Get off 294 and go West on I-88 (Aurora), through the MANUAL toll to Spring Rd (22nd St.) Exit, immediately continuing North on Spring Rd, which curves up around to Binny's (approx. 10 min. from getting off 294).

THEN- going from Binny's back to 294- Travel SOUTH on Rt. 83 (Binny's is on corner of Rt. 83 and 16th St.) past 2 lights to I-88 Eastbound ramp, zipping back to 294 North (another 10 min.) with your haul!

    Happy shopping!!!

Thanks, everyone. I ended up stopping at Woodman's (a little out of my way given that I was really more in North Chicago than Milwaukee), but it was well worth it. They didn't seem to have anything too "limited", but that was fine as I was looking for "shelf" beers I can't get here at home - and they had just about everything. The only thing they didn't have that I wanted was Anchor Christmas (I think it's out now - but I couldn't find any in Grand Rapids last year).

    Thanks!
