Are Duplicate Beer Listing Harder to Update?

    I have put in plenty of requests for updates on beer names, retirement, etc. which have been taken care of almost immediately; however, I have also put in numerous updates for duplicate listings (e.g. there are currently three listings for the Bruery's Atomic Kangarue), and none have been updated, some after more than a month. Is it significantly harder for two beer listings to be merged than to update the name or other piece of data for a beer listing?

    I'm pretty OCD and seeing all of these duplicate/erroneous beer listings irks me.

    Yes and no. As the action requires deleting content, only @Jason and I have access to them. But we only have so much time in the day.

    @Mike will eventually be overhauling our entire maintenance system, which will allow others to safely handle more of the maintenance for beers/places, but we've got higher priority tasks to tackle first.

    Right there with Andrew. Have marked a lot of duplicate beers but none of them has been updated. In this case I don't think that content should be deleted. Ratings and reviews should be merged on one of the beers, maybe the one with more ratings.

    That's not how it works. When a merge occurs, content will inevitably get deleted. Example: One of the beer listings, any related pic, and any duplicate ratings (users rated both) will get deleted.

    Can you give us any sense of just how backlogged you are on this stuff? I've put in a lot of duplicate reports on local breweries and it seems like very few, if any, of them get acted on.

    The backlog for duplicates is rather large. We're purposely not handling many as we're rebuilding the merge tool to make it safer and smarter to use, which would allow other Site Editors to pitch in.
