Darkness Day 2014 Thread

All of these reports of theft and even assault are very disheartening. I know it is a very small percentage of the attendees. I will never travel that far, but if I were close I would certainly be thinking twice about attending in the future. The bottom line I guess is alcohol over a long time with a large group and virtually no security is a bad idea. If I were Surly I would be seriously worried about this.

I have a solution though. An old professor of mine used to plant a fake cheater in his first exam. He would then make a big show of catching him and throwing him out. You guys need to fake a theft at the beginning. Then with the help of a good special effects guy reenact last nights church scene from the Walking Dead. Problem solved.

 

These reports are always disheartening. I met up with a couple different groups throughout the night and no one had these troubles luckily. A buddy had some good stuff stolen last year, so we just took to locking beers up in the car this year and getting them as needed.

 

They have been doing random drops in IA for a while too

The lady who sold this to us was super nice and brought the bottle over to darkness day so we could have it. I've talked to her since this was stolen and she probably feels as bad as we do about it.

 

Ha, this definitely happened to me with a few of my bottles at the end of the night! I had an awesome time and didn't see any of the shenanigans that others are mentioning. Thanks for letting me hang out around your truck biglobo!

 

So you heard they are doing special deliveries to all accounts today? Last year the bottles were delivered on the normal delivery days so the Darkness bottles were released throughout the week. I'm surprised special deliveries would be made.

 

I also heard that deliveries will be today , even to accounts that have different surly delivery days

 

Yep, it's a special delivery according to who I spoke with last week.

I had a great time on both Friday and Saturday. The only problem I had was that all of the portapotys were terrible. I never knew it was so hard to puke/poop/pee into a large hole.
