To switch gears a bit from the festbier/German recommendations, I just picked up a 12-pack of Full Sail Session Fest, their seasonal addition to their Session line of lagers. Here's the little commercial description:

According to Full Sail Executive Brewmaster, Jamie Emmerson, “Session Fest is a Czech-style strong lager called polotmavé or literally “light dark or semi-dark.” Brewed with 2 Row Pale malt, Munich malt, Caramel malt and Wheat malt, and hopped with a blend of Glaciers and Cascades.

What it boils down to is a pretty solid, easy-to-drink amber lager that, despite being part of the "Session" line, packs a nice little 6.2% ABV kick.

Who cares? All this "Seasonal" stuff is just another way to get us ALL to spend more money! Drink what ever quenches your thirst, regardless of the season. I'll drink an Oktoberfest in May. I just had a Kolsch this weekend...in October! Right now, my beer of choice is/are IPL's.
    Cheers!

Have to admit, I've grown to love this time of year. With a couple of weeks of vacation, I'll definitely enjoy some Marzen, Kolsch, and even a few reds this autumn/winter.

    I think Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest is a good one.[IMG]

Just had my first Celebrator Dopplebock and highly recommend that and Andechs as well.

For US brewed, if you can get Jack's Abbey I have been happy with all their lagers so far!

I think very cold weather is perfect for light lagers. I don't know why, maybe because they stay colder in your hand longer, and if there's snow, you can set your beer down in it to keep it ice cold.

Sierra's fall pack (if you can still find it) had an Oktoberfest and a pretty stellar Vienna Lager. I've been hitting a lot of Paulaner Weisn otherwise. And you said you didn't like pumpkins, but Lakefront makes a really decent pumpkin lager that might be worth a try.

Ayinger Octoberfest epitomizes Autumn--what's the question?

I'm lucky to live by Local Option, their lagers have been tasting mighty fine this Fall, especially Die Konigen!

X2 ..I tend to reach for the Stoudts Pils or Prima Pils type beers.
