Is the problem real estate (ie, not having room for the tanks?) as opposed to not having enough tanks? It amazes me how small some of the places around her are, but I guess I just assumed Surly was pretty big?

I was hoping this would get here before I left for work, I'll probably have to have my fiancée pick it up from the office for me. I'm going to be dying to get home from work today.

Their current brewery is a smallish warehouse space in an industrial park in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis. It was Omar Ansari's (owner) parents abrasive factory before they turned it over to him to create the brewery. Totally bootstrapped. Jammed packed with fermenters. 30 bbl brewhouse. Amazing what they've turned out of there volume wise.

New brewery opening in December is going to increase their capacity significantly to 100k barrels (right now it's around 30-40k IIRC). I've heard that they're only going to brew furious and hell at the new brewery initially. Their top selling beers by a large magnitude. They are keeping the existing brewery open to brew one offs and the less popular beers.

I knew about the former but not the latter, wow.
Yeah I assumed it was just to fit the theme of 'negative vibes' (surly, cynical[e], furious, bitter [brewer], etc)

Honestly I just don't get Hell. Not anything special at all (though it also just isn't my style of beer either, so that doesn't help). Hopefully with the changes there will be some fresh Furious around, though I have no idea if that has to do with brewing capacity or the distributor or what. I haven't seen cans of Furious fresher than a month old in forever it seems like. I just went to 4-5 different places last week and the most recent was 9/18.

And yeah, it'll be nice to be able to get all the other Surly stuff again. I'm not a huge fan of wet hop beer, but since I've been working in Minneapolis I do try and make sure to drink it every year as its a solid representation of the style.

I love that this message beat my refresh on the FedEx tracking page... which happens roughly every 5 minutes.

Hell is probably the easiest beer for people not that into craft to get into out of all of their offerings. I'm with you, not really my thing either.

I've seen Furious as young as 1-2 weeks in the past couple months tho it tends to come and go. I wonder if they rotate with the Chicago market so it comes out in bursts here...

Wet is one of my favorite fresh hop beers, and I haven't had it in a couple of years, looking forward to it returning.
