Wife texted - it's here!!!

 

You guys are lucky, my wife never lets me know when a box arrives, let alone takes pictures of it for me... half the time she leaves the poor guy outside! ah well, as long as she doesn't divorce me I guess I should count my blessings.

 

She doesn't bring them in. She just lets me know when they get here!

 

Still 99% sure it's me, but I guess I can't be 100% certain until fedex drops a bomb on my porch. Not going to lie though, part of me was secretly hoping "recently" meant a few days ago just so the box got here sooner... ahhh I feel like a kid waiting for christmas... but not knowing when christmas is other than a multi-day window!

 

There has been impact in Houston.

So today, I come home to this:

 

PPPRRRRROOOOONNNN!!!!!!

 

Two of these were pretty heavy, the third less so. First, I go for the smaller of the heavy boxes, I figure this is gonna be some 'locals', regular old beer that happens to be made in @Kramerbarthomer's neighborhood, then the other heavy box will be the wants I was told I was getting, and the light one some swag. I get through a couple Odells, and figure I'm right.... then I start pulling out Crooked Stave...and by the end of the box, I realized I was wrong, this was the "good" box, and the bigger one must be the one with the "true locals".... anyway, here's that box:


Odells Isolation Ale - I loved the Odells I've had before, so excited to try this one
Odells Mountain Standard - See previous Odells comment
Avery Obscura & Nimbosus - Should be want but I'd never heard of it; we get Avery around here, but nothing this cool
Crooked Stave Autumn Surette - Been really wanting to try Crooked Stave, and a Saison is a great way to start
Crooked Stave Mama Bear's Sour Cherry Pie - Um, really? I guessed this was the one you "wanted me to want" but I didn't have my hopes up...
Crooked Stave Wild Wild Brett Batch 100 - Um.....yeah, definitely should have been a want. Love me a kumquat (I think )

So, being very pleased with this haul already (just a little disappointed that I didn't "save the best for last"), I figure I'll get into the swag next; I love me some glassware, and if @Kramerbarthomer managed to find a tshirt in my size I'd be pretty impressed too, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's in this box... Except then I start digging and feel cans... Well, I figured I was getting a Modus Hoperandi since it was "one of the three", so ok. Then I don't get that, I get more wants that I didn't know about... and an awesome snifter... and some more cans.

Upslope Brown Ale - Never heard of it, excited to try it
Dry Dock Hefeweizen - This one too
Dry Dock Apricot Blonde - This looks pretty awesome and is a want
Dry Dock Hop Abomination - And so does this, and so is this
Avery Snifter - Awesome! Love this type of glass and have only had one for a while.

 

Then I get to the bigger box, that I assume by now (what with all the wants and awesomeness) must be "just some locals"... (to be continued when I get back from getting the kids ready for bed...)

Yes, forgot to mention that one... another that I had been eyeing up previously, so I'm very glad to get a chance to try one!

 

So anyway... that big box... I open it up, first thing I pull out is a local hefeweizen, and another Odells (which, by the way, is no disappointment, did I mention that earlier?) Still giddy from the first box, I settle in to start opening another dozen or so locals, really just hoping to get some Modus Hoperandi. I get through a couple more Odells, and I'm starting to wonder if @Kramerbarthomer forgot that we talked about the Ska cans of my desire. Then, JACKPOT! A bubblewrapped pair of that hoppy elixir! Pretty winning "locals" box this has become! I figure there's another half dozen local 12 ozers, maybe some more Odells, maybe some local spots I know nothing about, so I reach back in.....

(Hey, I said "get the kids ready for bed" ... now I've gotta get them IN bed... to be continued again)

 

My leasing office just called, they said there's a hole in their porch with my name on it.

Unfortunately, my fiancée had to go in to work at 4, and I won't be out til 10, so I'll have to pick this box up first thing tomorrow morning. You horndogs will just have to wait another 14 hours.

 

That's ok man, I'm edging the shit outta these dudes... by the time I finish with my haul, they won't be ready for another until tomorrow anyway
