Last night had BrewDog Barrel Aged 77 (thanks to David, very unique); Beer Here Farmhouse Rye (again a very unique beer), and Beer Here Hop Fix (lots of Thai spices in this a la Green Flash Imperial; I'm guessing they used a lot of Nugget).

After work: My friends homebrew. The last lot was the worst experience of my drinking life and left me with a headache and vomiting for 2 days. It nearly killed me. Still, an experience. Hopefully this time the recipe is tweaked for the better....or he's just out to finish me off. If I dont post again, you all know what happened. Avenge me.

Also, in this night of festivities is a bottle of my dad's homebrew I found cleaning out the shed. His best guess of style and age is 'It might be a stout, if it's from 1982. An ale if it's from 1983.' If only homebrewers bottle dated too.

And then to finish off the night will be a bottle of Holgate Temptress. Because it's cold out and it's a delicious beer.

Also, I was surfing the net and I saw a site for 'The Tank Hotel Underbelly Craft Beer Bar' in Brisbane. Any good Mr Parrotshake?

I'm gonna drink some Cantillon Gueuze.

I am starting to wonder if all of my beer cellar is now obsolete.

You're getting dangerously close to what my friend experienced with **** Lukie. After a while you need to watch more and more outrageous acts just to get off. Or in this case get 'soured'.

My palate is ruined. Completely. Had a Rose de Gambrinus (several actually) last night, and it wasn't even sour.

That's the most sour Cantillon do!

It's all the chilli sauce and sours. Your taste buds can't take anymore.

Poor Icarus. You flew too close to the sour chilli sun.

I won't stop until I fly into it and destroy everything.

Is the Rose de Gambrinus actually the most sour? I've only had one 375mL bottle of it, in retrospect I probably enjoyed it more than a lot of other Cantillons. Should definitely revisit.

I think it depends on who you ask. I've read on forums from time to time that some believe older Classic Gueuze or Lou Pepe Gueuze to be the most sour. Others say older Lou Pepe Framboise or older Fou'Foune.

My older Cantillon Kriek was more sour then anything I have had lately.

I only heard about this the other day. Haven't been in and don't know anyone who has. Will check it out sometime and report back.

Woke up about 4 hours ago and made a garganrtuan breakfast, which I enjoyed with a Hopdog Beerworks Sticky Figgy and a Dark Harvest courtesy of Mr Kennedy. Thanks again. I bought a half-dozen Courage Russian Imperial Stouts last night and I believe I'll crack one of those directly.

I also noticed this from 'Underbelly'. They're doing a thing called 'Stoutrageous'.

The event will take place at 7pm and finish at 8:30pm on the 26th of June.
The stouts we have chosen are:
    • 4 Pines dry Irish style stout (NSW),
    • Bacchus Oatmeal stout (QLD),
    • Beard & Brau Milk stout (SA),
    • Greenflash Double stout (CA, USA),
    • Brooklyn Chocolate stout (NY, USA),
    • Brewdog’s Paradox Jura (Scotland)/St Ambroise Barrel aged stout (Montreal, Canada).
Seems like it's right up your alley Mr Parrotshake.

Me drinking wise, a pint of Temple Midnight IPA, then when I get home, 2 bottles of Murray's Wild Thing. Thank you Mr Spicelab and Mr Kennedy.

And to finish, a Murray's Barrel Aged Heart of Darkness. Once again thanks Mr K.

Drainpoured the Mountain Goat pepper IPA - didn't like it at all. Now consuming an "ass kisser" (under whelming for a double IPA) wondering why I didn't just grab one of the palate wreckers I have in the fridge.

What did you think of the Epic Epicurian Mr Hopswiller? I was somewhat underwhelmed.... I dont know if it was supposed to be 'subtle' and I'm just a philistine, but I couldn't detect that much fig or (more then a 'normal stout') coffee flavours. Was it just me?

Had this bottle tempting me for sometime and it didn't live up to expectations. Still enjoyed it but to me it was all coffee, coffee and some more coffee. No figs or coconut at all. Wasn't worth the price tag either.

    I guess we're both philistines.
