So it looks like I may be going down to Austin to see my sister and nephews for thanksgiving. Turns out she lives out in the hill country by JK so I'm planning on making a trip there to get some bottles. I'm not too familiar with their release schedules but was curious what might be available when I'm there. I know colour five just released but I'm not sure how long each batch sticks around. Also not sure what others might be on deck. Let me know if you've get any info. Thanks!
The beers in planning stay pretty quiet until the week of the release. Usually be cause they're ready when they're ready. With that being said, you will surely be able to get some good bottles, there's usually at least one fruited sour to be bought and some really excellent 750ml as well.
In general, unless you know people who are in the know, you will not know what is coming out until the week of. With that said, you most definitely will not get Colour 5. However, you likely will get some limited release beer or two for that week. They have been doing a great job of keeping "rare" beer on sale to a certain extent.
Thanks for the advice guys! @mattchow I'm a bit confused as to what you are suggesting. Are you saying it will be difficult to get beers directly from JK? I don't have much access to JK (at least the fruit sours) here in Indiana so It would be difficult for me to bring some down for trading (if that is what you were suggesting). I had thought about bringing down some stuff to trade while I'm there tho, just got lucky on the Upland sours lottery and always have access to some good FFF beers. I'd be happy just getting a bottle or 2 of the current fruit sours, but it would be nice to get some of the previous releases as well.
During the Zwanze bottle share, Jeff said that it's their goal to have at least one fruited sour available at all times, so I would assume that when Colour Five runs out this weekend or next, there will be something else ready to take its place, and so on.
Thread title made me think they were releasing a beer named "Thanksgiving". Cranberry sour? Pumpkin sour? Turkey sour? ? ?
Haha it was certainly not my intention to give that impression. cranberry would probably be pretty interesting tho!
I want to make this now, lol. It could probably be done the same way bacon flavor can be added, through "fat washing". Mmm. Fat washing.
Make a smoked berliner and age it on cranberries. Wont be here in time for Thanksgiving but you could have it for Christmas... no fat sir!
