I've never had it Matt. Since I'm heading down for Veritas I think I'll pick up a bottle or two. Maybe it will convert me!

anyone have any idea how much time it spent in the barrels? dumb question: (this goes for any ba coffee stout), do they add fresh coffee stout before bottling? wouldn't the coffee flavors fade a bit after time in the barrel?

I don't have first hand info, but I've heard a couple different knowledgeable people say that Alesmith adds the coffee after barrel aging, so they can more or less create any BASS variant from existing barrels. Other breweries, I have no idea, I'm sure some add before and some after.

Yes, although that can be a pro or con depending on how you want to look at it. If you have a particularly bold coffee flavor on top of a stout base that has mellowed, it could be off putting. As long as you adjust your coffee dosing to match the current state of the beer, it will generally be better to do it later in the process.

New English is about to release a BA Chocolate Zumbar stout. I don't think he is bottling it (not enough), but I did hear Simon say that he does not add coffee after the fact. That's probably a good thing - it would be so over the top with caffeine that it would give Jolt Cola a run for its money.

TY, it is my favorite Bruery beer and far too easy to drink....30minutes in and there are maybe drops only coming out of the bottle. So sad when that happens.

Normal BASS has shown up in limited distro once or twice, as did a batch of BA Wee Heavy. I want to say 2012 but I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty sure that BAVSS will not hit distro, I would expect it to sell out about as quickly as BA Kopi did.

Crazy. I didn't think they got out there other than being resold somewhere. In any case, I don't think this one will be hitting distro, and as mentioned by the cat above me, will sell out quickly.

No and BA Speedway doesn't hit distro but gets illegally resold.

I believe you can *still* buy bottles of the last BA Speedway release in the tasting room. It is likely this is what you are seeing in the stores. Is it being illegally resold? Yeah. But it isn't like these people kept other people from getting bottles, so I classify it as "meh".

It is very unlikely, especially with all the beer week visitors, that there will be any leftover bottles of BAVSS. It might sell out in 5 minutes.

Did you see the library sale on the 9th and 10th that Alesmith is doing out of their tasting room?

    G'damn.....
