Lefthand's Milk Stout or Wicked Weed's either, "Milk It" or "Milk & Cookies" stout, would be my favorite non imperials.

Just tried Stumbler's Stout from Columbia River Brewing Co. Very good.

Left Hand Milk Stout is usually my go-to easy-to-find stout
Great Lakes Ohio City Oatmeal Stout is also a favorite but hard to find
When I want a stout though, I mostly go for imperials so I don't know how meaningful my opinion is here

I like Firestone Velvet Merlin and Deschutes Obsidian Stout. Good honest stouts.

I also think Modern Times Black House is terrific, and I'd drink it regularly if it were available here.

You touched on most of what would have been my reply, so I'll just add Anchor Porter to that list as long as we're including Porters.

I'm a big fan of the Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat and the Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat. I know they aren't widely distributed, but worth a try if you get a chance. Easy drinkers and reasonably priced...and in 16 oz cans!

    A couple I really enjoy:

Bent River Uncommon Stout and Jingle Java(seasonal, out in Nov/Dec and briefly in July)
    Great River Redband Stout
~i run a race in davenport every july, and i always try to stock on at these two places before heading home

If we're including porters (which seems reasonable) then mine is Smog City Groundworks Coffee Porter hands down. Honorable mention to FW Reserve Porter (RIP).

If it's stouts only, then probably Sammy Smith Chocolate Stout or Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

I love Xocoveza, but at 8.1% ABV, it seems unfair to include.

DORIS is up there for me. Or Marshal Zhukov.

If we are going with adjunct flavors allowed, Huna 2014!

Xocoveza as a one time release and 8% abv I would exclude.

Doris is imperial. Velvet Merkin would probably be considered imperial also at 8.5%
