Just rolled the odometer over to year 11. At my next checkup, I expect the hear the line from one of the James Bond movies: "He seems to be in surprisingly good shape. Except for the liver."

man I remember bringing Bass Ale to a buddy's house and people saying it was too 'rich' and 'heavy', and laughing and saying 'wtf'??? Now they treat and drink it as if it were Bud/Miller/Coors![/quote]

I remember those days all too well. I was living in Memphis in 1989, and tried like the devil to get the organizer for a law firm reception to at least bring in a case of Bass for the event. Ultimately, she just wouldn't do it. She felt the beer was much too exotic and much too rich for the palates of most of the participants. Hell, at the time, she was probably right.

    2003 for me....

I remember him, and I also remember a period where even the mention of his name was enough to earn you a ban.

This thread is awesome. I think it's great there are members that have been here since the beginning or close to. We need veterans around here to keep some of these new BAs in order. It's been getting a little out of control as of late.

I toast a beer to all of you 10+ year BAs!

I was a lurker for many years before joining. While I was a lurker, I do remember many spirited and well thought out threads/posts by venom, schoolteacher, davo, goodbyeohio, malto, irishsnake just to name a few people. I assume that some of these people are no longer on BA since I have not seen posts from them in many years.

Each of those names rings a bell and dusts off the cobwebs. Lots of folks have moved on, but it seems hundreds have now taken their place. Definitely wonder what is going on with some of the long lost old-timers from time to time, though it is still nice to see how many are still around.

I remember a thread from way, way, way back from one of the few women on the site who was the first to review 100 beers. I can't remember her BA name, but she was in some women's football league.

Another name I remember from the past is LongBeachBum. No idea where he is now.

TheLongBeachBum is still living in or near Long Beach. He still has an account, but he does not visit beer websites much anymore (though he is still as into beer as ever).

Was that "bigdeb", from the Albany NY area perhaps?

I think it was bigdeb. That name definitely sounds familiar.
