@Silverstroke lives in NJ so Sly Fox should be readily available to him. Given what he posted, the two lagers (that are canned) which may be of most interest are Pikeland Pils and Helles Golden Lager. The Dunkle should be available soon (it is a fall/winter seasonal) if he likes Dark Lagers. I would guess these beers are reasonably priced in NJ. I can get 6-packs of Pikeland Pils for 9 bucks here in PA so it is likely this beer can be purchased cheaper in NJ (more beer retail competition in NJ).

    Cheers!

12 packs are usually cheaper. Or split a case with someone? Ever try Notch pilsner ? Not sure if they ship from MA.

Tip for some of you guys...look below the username and you'll see what state he is from, New Jersey.

The ones I would recommend were listed already except for Sly Fox Helles Lager, Stoudts Gold and Victory Lager. All great German style beers that are very flavorful. On the Pils side look for Sly Fox Pikeland, Stoudts Pils, Victory Prima, FW Pivo and Sixpioint The Crisp. All readily available and all very good and all should be reasonably priced.

    Good luck, enjoy the search!

I don't think Sunshine is better than Victory, Sly Fox or Stoudts personally, so really stocking is really not an issue. In fact, I think all 3 have won medals at the GABF in years past. Even if you are a Sunshine fan, an old Sunshine will not be as good as a fresh pils from one of the other year round guys. My opinion.

If you can get Narragansett in your area keep an eye open for their Bohemian Pils (not their flagship lager). It's not at the quality of the German/Czech imports, but it is tasty, sold in six packs of tallboys and relatively cheap.

Also, keep an eye peeled for Sierra Nevada's "Nooner Pils" (or some similar name) that's coming out. It'll likely be hoppier than one might expect from a German/Czech lager, but I wager the price will be rather affordable. And Sierra Nevada, in my opinion, rarely, if ever, puts out lousy beer.

@JackHorzempa and @Kadonny - as much as I also enjoy those beers, they are each pricier than Samuel Adams here in NJ, and that was the price he was looking to get below.

Michael, what do you typically pay for a 6-pack of Sly Fox Pikeland Pils?

    Cheers!

$9-10, depending on the store, which is actually on the low around here side these days. $11 is more the norm for a sixer.

For comparison, something like a Sam Adams 12-pack would be $15.

Thanks for that input. Since you typically quote prices lower than what I pay here in PA I assumed that you could purchase Sly Fox cheaper. I can buy a 6-pack of Pikeland Pils for $8.99.

In PA there is very little competition for purchasing beer by the 6-pack since the state has restrictive licensing laws for this sort of retailer. Generally less competition equates to higher pricing.

    Cheers!

Yeah- it's possible that we may have you beat on beers that don't come from PA, but in this case it doesn't work that way.

Stoudt's Pils as well as Gold. It's a family thing, and they know what they're doing.

In Philly I can get Sly Fox Pikeland Pils 6 pack for $8.95 at Wholefoods. I know they get into NY strong. Worth checking out.

Wow, thanks for the price update, Sly Fox here is in his price range. Well then it's sad to say he might not have a lot of options out there.

Great lakes makes some damn fine lagers, Dortmunder gold and elliot ness are very impressive and reasonably priced at around 9.99-10.99 a sixer. Im sure we'd all love top quality beer for 6.99 a six pack but i'd also love a gold toilet with a bidet and a private jet.
