Out of curiosity, what did you figure a $2 markup on 120 was? I've seen wildly divergent pricing for those, so just an "extra" $2 doesn't actually sound all that bad.

Anyone able to compare this to Dragon's Milk Reserve w/ Toasted Chiles? Just had that last night and didn't think much of it (not terrible at all, just not especially memorable), though I love spicy stouts/beer. Was trying to figure out whether to add this to the list of stuff I gotta seek out!

$12.99 versus $10.99 from a different store just down the street the previous day. Not huge and I of course didn't care given the beer . Though it's still $1-2 higher, which is seemingly the norm (especially given today's releases). It's still one of the closest stores to me, so there is something to be said for the price of convenience, and the people there have been really helpful.

Yeah, that seems fair for something that's so in demand. Around here it's not uncommon to see it for $14-16 though, and that pushes the limits of my tolerance for gouging.

Absolutely. A buck or two for a single is one thing, but nearly 50%?! No thanks.

[admittedly, I'm still learning the prices for the area...and of course I'm thankful that one is available at all since we couldn't get it in Ohio]

Spotted a few in the Jackson area today if anyone is interested. $4.79 each I believe.

I don't think they're in the same league at all. And the price point is nearly the same. It's a no brainer add to the list.

Maybe someone can answer this for me but did they brew Bourbon Barrel Mayan Mocha Stout as well as the imperial version this year? I found BB Mayan on the shelf today to my surprise and the guy said he got it in recently but I am not sure he knew what he was talking about.

I don't think so. I think this was answered previously on the boards here, but I can't find a reference to it.

Only te imperial version was brewed this year. The owner, forgot his name, said he strongly disliked last years BBA Mayan so I don't expect they'll ever brew that version again.

After trying this years, I'm with him in that I don't want them to brew that version again either. This version is delicious.

I stopped by four different shops today looking for Backwoods Bastard. To my surprise, I found (what I believe to be) last year's Mayan Mocha Stout at three of these shops. I have been in those shops recently and it wasn't there until today. Call me crazy, but I'm guessing this supply was still floating out there and they tried putting it out along with the recent release of the bourbon barrel aged MMS.

I was thinking the same thing. The only problem is that the store I purchased it from hasn't received the imperial version yet. This is why I originally wondered if they released it again this year. Maybe the distributor is unloading the leftover stuff

Mayan mocha is the one stout that has to be drank fresh imo.. if it's last year's you'll definitely be able to decipher upon first taste..

Nope, this year's batch of Mayan Mocha started coming in a few weeks ago. To verify look for a bottle date stamp on the right side of the label sideways.

Sorry for the confusion. My beer guy said he got BB Mayan Mocha Stout in a few weeks ago but I think he was getting it confused with regular. But then again he did have several 4 paks of BB Mayan Mocha sitting in the cooler so maybe he did.

On my second one. I love the regular version as well. Ppl always complained it was thin; which, it was but this imp version is so thick when it warms up. This stuff is terrific.

Hows the carbonation for you guys? I just popped my first of five bottles and its completely flat. The cap seemed to pop off easier than normal but that could just be in my head. I poured it pretty hard but got zero head. Besides that, its tasting pretty good.

Thought the carbonation was perfect. But I like low carbonation in my stouts. Wasn't flat by any means though.

Carbonation seemed low to me but I poured the rest pretty hard and it was fine. Leaves a nice ring on the glass as it goes down.. local stores here selling 5 bucks a bottle with one selling at 7 bucks a bottle..
