I got an alert on the Facebook yesterday that the label for Sip of Sunshine was approved by the State of CT and that cans will be available there starting in December. This came via CraftBrewGuy. Don't know how reliable that is, but has anyone else heard the same?

I think it's unlikely. Most likely scenario is that the CraftBrewGuy just learned that SoS was actually made at Two Roads, then they started assuming that since it's made in CT that it'll be distributed in CT. Also, Two Roads makes lots of other beer that's not distributed in CT. So just because it's brewed there doesn't mean it'll be distributed there.

It's currently only available in 3 retail outlets in Vermont. It's highly unlikely that Lawson's will start working with a new distributor outside of VT before he expands within VT. Lawson is busy dealing with the loss of his last parent and is on "vacation" for a few months. I seriously doubt he's talking to CT distributors right now.

Update: His Facebook posts copies my entire blog post about it (and graphic). Nowhere in my vtbeer.org posting about the TTB label approval did I say anything about CT distribution.

Looking at it again and he updated the post to muddy it a bit. But it still says at the beginning of the "announcement" :

"It's coming. Soon. Will be sold in CT"

The sales manager from Two Roads seem to be confirming the news that the cans were approved in CT and they are currently discussing distribution. Sounds like it might actually be true!!!!!

Seems a bit sloppy, no? If (and this is a big IF) this is true, it is clearly not worked out fully and someone is going to be pissed that this leaked. Seems a bit Busch League for the sales manager to chime in at all on this too.

Absolutely. Very bizarre. Still sounds too good to be true but I'm going to try and stay optimistic.

First, this would be great. More distribution, more happy drinkers. I like this move. Secondly, and I'm only speaking for myself here, I cannot wait for the first, "SOS was so much better when it was Vermont-only, man has Sean Lawson really sold out" thread.

It's all the same to me, but I have a feeling some VT folks are going to be pretty angry unless Sean also announces that he will be seriously expanding distro within the state...

SoS has never been made in Vermont. That has always been brewed at Two Roads. Anyways, that thread started and ended six or seven months ago when SoS was first announced.

On topic: Just an observation, but do the people in this thread follow craft beer CT stuff at all on Twitter? This was discussed there - by many knowledgeable people - way before this thread was created.

@jamesewelch Really? You weren't aware that those of us in CT have known for a very long time that Lawson's was brewed at Two Roads? Like Stillwater, Evil Twin, Yuengling, and more? You thought some dude saw your article and thought: "COMING TO CT!" Sorry if that is sarcastic, but many of us in CT know exactly who brews what. It's been common knowledge for a LONG time that Sean brews at Two Roads.

The thing that started this publicly (actually rumors before) was when Sean was at NECBo with Matt and Phil from Two Roads. Then, very recently, the CT canning label was approved. We'll see when it happens, but it is happening.

you'll be waiting a long time. didn't happen with heady, won't happen with this. sip of sunshine isn't quite double sunshine level, but it's awesome.

just make sure they don't make so much that it sits on shelves a la MBC. then it really will have been better VT only--because it was only drank fresh.

My thoughts exactly. It seems absurd to think that someone from CT who frequents BA and knows enough about SoS to be excited about it, wouldn't know that it was brewed at Two Roads. I also don't see why it seems so unreasonable to expect a beer that is made in CT to be available in CT at least to some degree.

Not the best idea to post this in the open, but I guess they shouldnt be releasing info about it anyways with confidentiality agreements and stuff. That person could lose their job over that.

I follow this thread and I don't use Twitter. Just because you might follow every single CT brewery on Twitter, don't assume that others do as well.

Isn't it just SOS that brewed in CT? And I never knew that is was never brewed in VT. I figured that if it was aLawson's beer, it probably originated in VT then moved production to CT. So I learned something from his post.

Wow, what a brewpie circle jerk that must've been! Again, just because you might have happened to be there and ran to your Twittter account to post selfies with these guys, don't assume that that made it "public."

Yep. That's why I linked back to CGB's FB page, so people can follow the trail. Not everyone uses FB or BA.

Sounds more like the sales manager is speaking without authority, which makes me suspect any of this is true.
