Anheuser Busch acquiring 10 Barrel, very interesting. I'm not a fan of this, but if it means that we will be able to get Crush beers in bottles, I'll be happy about that.

Dare I ask why the other thread was deleted?

Probably because they were talking about it in the News forum. And because us PNWers don't know how to follow rules.

Seriously - that makes no sense to me. It's nice to have a thread where people from Kansas can contribute, but this is also very much a regional matter.

I considered the first option, but past experience leads me to believe that they would have simply merged the threads and preserved the comments, which makes me suspect the second option. Did things get a little heated last night after I stopped reading the thread?

The last time I read the thread was around 1:30pm Seattle time yesterday, and there were just a few innocent tangents. I have no idea what happened after that.

My thought exactly, which is why I let it go. However, there have been a LOT of nasty and snarky comments on the natioal thread, and I see that there has been a lot of "moderation" going on there. This is just speculation on my part, but my guess is that someone decided that one "high maintenace" thread on this topic was enough, and that it might be a good idea to kill the regional thread, before similar comments start popping up on it.

Also, there is this current thread where locals can comment on the acquistion, if they still have a mind.

(the reason listed in the moderation explanation field is "duplicate thread.")

Since we actually know 10 Barrel and the NW/West Coast market, this seems like a better place to ask. What do you think about the former's Ninkasi guy's comment?

Makes me think that A-B has their hands on Washington next. Some distributor will be sold to them and then possibly a brewery. Pretty much the same as to what they did in Oregon.

Self-distribution is one thing, but how is it legal for a brewery to own a distribution business?

Deleted the original thread, this website so dang sensitive sometimes its irritating. ITS THE INTERNET, theres gunna be some major negativity sometimes. You take down a thread just cause it might hurt someones feelings, someone who is happy AB got 10 barrel possibly? smh

Everything he says makes perfect sense except the part about Ninkasi being too big. AB had no qualms about shelling out over $100 million to pick up Goose Island, so I'm reasonably sure that if Ninkasi was actually "on the market" AB would find a way to scrounge up the cash.

Forums are way too wishy washy these days. In the days of old they had more spirit. I liked our discussion in this forum, seemed more fitting.
