I hope it wasn't my late night post about InBev actually hurting Goose Island despite all the propaganda a rah -rah cheer leading!
About how we see tones of mediocre GI beers now in Oregon that do not seem to sell and sit in un-refrigerated areas for months.
Great distribution but no sales..how is that good for anyone. I dont want to see that happen to 10 Barrels on the East Coast.

Don't forget the push of super cheap GI IPA kegs in WA to kick out local stuff on tap.

Failed miserably. They really have no clue about the PNW beer market.
I saw those kegs for a short while in my favourite growler places.. a disaster as they didn't sell despite the prices.
I no longer see GI much on tap unless its there special stuff.

As I mentioned in the nuked thread, I saw shitty GI IPA taps all over the 300-level at the Seahawks game last Sunday with no actual craft taps in sight...all local breweries lost upwards of 2/3 of their taps at CenturyLink due to A-B, according to @Texwild.

Sorry dude..i meant it seemed to fail in Oregon.
    It worked in WA?

I only ever saw the push for GI IPA at Mexican restaurants that don't really focus on craft beer but have a couple locals like Manny's or a random Deschutes beer. Rosita's near my house in Greenlake had GI IPA instead of Inversion for a while right around the time that was supposedly happening. Inversion is now back on there and GI IPA is not.

Yeah same here..mainly non craft beer orientated places and some grocery chains, particularly Safeway which even has some of the better 750s..they don't sell either as Safeway shoppers don't seem to appreciate those prices!

I wasn't disagreeing with your point --- it seemed to have failed for the most part around Seattle too, as @distantmantra points out. I was just ranting cuz I couldn't get a good beer during the game (without walking down several flights of stairs and missing yet another Russell Wilson pass sail over the head of the receiver) and A-B was the sole reason why.

Sporting events would seem to be one of the more obvious hi-volume "eff-you" arenas for AB. The customers want diverse beer offerings at sporting events, and if you can be the brewer (and distributor) of all of them, you stand to gain immensely and you can push out the little guy pretty easily. Ditto dive bars that don't care/know. I imagine in middle america, it'll sell like crazy.

Yeah, that was probably my fault. I got in a tiff with the moderator over at that thread. I got put in timeout with a dunce cap on me for a day.

    Sorry guys. :flushed:

So have we asked the question, who is going to continue to buy there beer and who will not? I never bought their packaged offerings to begin with, so it wont effect me in that respect.

FWIW, the Cox brothers are here at the Station right now with what I can only assume are some AB folks (and/or lawyers) conducting interviews with Angelo from Brewpublic, John Foyston from the O, and god only knows who else. Maybe there will be more information on the reasons for the sale tomorrow.

Depends..i like their Pub Beer and was looking forward to having cans of that in next summers camping trips.
But that beer might be too close to ABs premium type lagers..so will probably be killed off.
    So probably not drinking again.

I like the Crush beers and have enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at their Bend pub. I bought a bomber of Jamaican Me Pumpkin, but never think about buying their 6-packs.

I too, love Pub Beer. Absolutely killer packaging design.

Yeah I saw Angelo posted on twitter that he was going to interview them and was asking what questions people wanted him to ask.

That was my thought too about their pub beer. Good thing camping cans are becoming more prevalent with Couch Select Lager from Burnside and Basecamp brewing now in 6 packs. There are other options.

Well don't be trying to hog all the credit to yourself. My understanding is that there were a lot folks who got a bit, ahem, carried away expressing their opinion about this purchase. :-)

There were no pitchforks. I'm still not sure what to think about the whole deal, but I'm going to withhold judgment for now.

I have always followed Don's mantra of making the customer happy and stocking what they want, but I'm not sure what his response would be if someone fucked with his friend's livelihood...

I'm going to go watch a couple episodes of Orange in the new Black and contemplate life...
