@summitbeer [zombie voice] bring back rebellion....bring back rebellion.... [/voice]

As others have said, in general a very solid lineup. The only regular summit beers i buy regularly are Saga and Frostline Rye (one of my favorite rye beers), but I buy them a fair amount. Occasionally ill get EPA or Red if the store doesnt have a good selection.

Rebellion was possibly the best 6 pack stout ever. Please bring it back at least as a winter seasonal (or preferably year round!). I still havent tried herkulean woods, but with all the praise here Ill have to go try it.

Thanks for the awesome thread, BAers. We just bottled/kegged Unchained 17: Harvest Fresh IPA today. I'm editing the Brewer Interview video for it right now or I'd post it for you. It is really good stuff - high on the pine, resin, grapefruit; but with nice toastiness from Full Pint 2-Row and Germanic maltiness from some Munich Brewer Tom Mondor also racked about a dozen firkins of the beer so watch for them at events in the coming weeks. As for the Unchained and Union Series, from a beer geek/social media nerd POV, it is absolutely a blast to work here and watch the brewers and Damo get to turn out these wonderful one-offs often using unique/rare ingredients and processes. And Unchained 18.... well, I can't say what it is - but I can guarantee you... this thread's members are gonna freak out!
Here is a like to more information on Harvest Fresh IPA and release events for the beer.

Also - from a beer geek perspective... I could drink Old 152 and Festbier from now until forever!

Is Unchained 17 in stores yet anywhere?

Also, I love it when the breweries respond!

Having just packaged it today... Harvest Fresh IPA should be heading out on trucks this afternoon and tomorrow. Likely in stores next week in the Twin Cities metro area. Call your shops and see when they expect to have it. Drink ASAP!

I would say to bag the porter and have the Oatmeal Stout and rebellion stout be the two regularly available dark beers. Also, there were those kegs of 2 Gingers barrel aged Oatmeal Stout that were great and I heard that summit was looking at a real barrel aging program. Haven't heard anything since about that.

I've been posting pics on FB and TW over the last two weeks. We secondary-conditioned 110 gallons of Herkulean Woods in French cognac barrels for a month, emptied them, and immediately racked 165 gallons of 3X Mild into those barrels for primary fermentation. We are not doing bourbon/whiskey (craft beer has been there, done that), we've looking ahead to cognac for now and other spirits in the coming years. "Insert Image" function isn't working for me... here's a link:

Glad to hear it. For anybody like myself, who doesn't follow breweries or beer bars on those sites, it is only through the beer oriented sites that we get the info. Unfortunately, adding every relevant brewery, beer bar (and even distributor) to those feeds would just flood them. That is the whole reason I use these regional forums on sites like BA.

Any idea why Unchained 16 has yet to hit markets north of St. Cloud? If it has it must have gone quick.

They've gotten so popular no one drinks them anymore. (Yogi would be proud).

Should anyone be interested, I just finished editing and posted this video interview with brewer Tom Mondor about Harvest Fresh IPA (nice blooper reel at the end).

Here also is a blog with a lot of other fun Harvest Fresh related content:

@ZAP I'm not sure off hand about markets north of Saint Cloud. I would've assumed that it has already been there since it was released in mid/late September.

I drank the shit out of the Meridian Session Ale. A nice super drinkable Belgian pale. And I loved the Dunkel Weizen. Not enough breweries make them.

After buying two sixers of Herkulian untasted I must say that is not one of my favorite unchained. It's fine...no worries on buying two sixers but I wouldn't buy that again...

Can we get a reprisal of the RYEIPA some day please?

Harvest Fresh just hit my local, yesterday, so I'll try it soon (gotta power-through a backlog of fresh, new "boring lagers.") Herkulean Woods grew on me -- especially the 'heat.' But right away I wasn't really sold on it.

Altogether, I'm liking what they're throwing at the wall to see what sticks.

@ZAP, I did like Herk after the first one, but, similar to @Chaz, I liked it even more by the end of the first 6 pack, to the extent that I've continued to buy it when I see it (even now). It'll be interesting to read your take after you're heading into your last 2 or 3 remaining. I hope you'll update us.

    Me, too.
